Federation Ahead Of Its Time??
« on: July 05, 2006, 02:11:52 PM »
Man, this album is CRAZY.  It's completely outta here and I'm lovin it.  Talk about originality.  Its not West, its not East... it aint South... I cant even call it.  Its just wild.. on some crazy "ish" and now that the Hyphy movement is in full swing, its so clear to see how far ahead of the game Rick Rock was with this album?  This album was the "ish" period.

Anyone who's been here a while knows that I'm a big Cosmic Slop (Big Lurch) fan and this is like Cosmic Slop part 2, (unfortunatly without Big Lurch) ;)  And like that album, the production is super tight, completely unorthodox.  I cant wait for their new stuff to drop.  For anyone who missed Daz's appearance, I've uploaded it.  The beat knocks and Daz kills it.  Enjoy.

Yea Im not a big fan of this hyphy movement either but theres plenty of cats in the bay that done fuck with the hyphy like spice, yukmouth, ya boy, san quinn, Celly, Messy Marv and others.  There are a few hyphy songs I do like though I think Mac Dre's Feelin Myself was the best.

naw there is quite a few that are dope, but as far as whole albums go, the only hyphy type one that I have liked outta the bay in the last couple of years is the new E40.  To be honest I've only heard the first federation album one time through, so possibly I could be missing something, but listening through it the whole way through I just kept thinking "Damn this is a new representative of the bay?"  I love the bay area and I always trying and give props and support the bay, but I have to admit I think a majority of the stuff thats came out of the bay for the last few years has just been garbage.  Back when I first got into rap it was all the deathrow/dpg stuff, and sic wid it.  That was most of what I listened to.  And I just listen to the stuff now and I think it is horrendous.  Take Celly Cel's The G Filez.  Compare the beats on that album with any album to drop in the bay in the past 5 years.  Not a single album can contend.  I think the bay, and rap in general lacks seriously in the production department.  90% of beats are boring.  And nowadays when a sick beat does blow up, it just gets copied like a mutha fucka...see scott storch, lil jon, and a bunch of other producers who I don't even know.

and people always saying, quit living in the past and open your mind to this new stuff.  And I have.  I do give it a listen.  and quite frankly, I simply think it sucks.  I have given it a chance, and I don't like it.  Why would I force myself to listen to a cd that I think sucks, when I can listen to a cd that I know every single song is a banger.

I feel you.  Its seems like its a "Love It Or Hate It" type of thing.  I dont know, cant call it.  I do like that remix The Team did to Hyphy Juice.  I think WCR'z posted it a while back.  Its super smooth.  If anyone wants to here it, let me know and I'll hook up a YouSendIt.

Gotta get more of ya'll into some Bay "ish!"

Yeah the beats were banging in the hyphy juice mixtape. The first beat in the intro was the best.

I looooooooooove that Federation album.  There isn't one song on there I don't like.  I could probably rap along with the whole thing (not very well mind you lol) i've listened to it so much.

Probably my fav. Hyphy track:

Kinsmoke feat. Federation & Rick Rock "On One"

Rick Rocks verse is craaaaaazy.  I don't know where this song is from tho.
