A pure point guard that is not selfish and he can play D.
Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich was added to the USA Basketball roster on Wednesday.
The addition of Hinrich comes one day after Orlando Magic rookie guard J.J. Redick announced he would not be able to participate in tryouts for Team USA due to a back injury.
Redick and forward Adam Morrison, the third overall pick in last month's draft, were the only college players selected to fight for a roster spot on Team USA.
Now Hinrich, who averaged 15.9 points and 6.3 assists in his third season with the Bulls in 2005-06, will get a chance to battle for a roster spot on the team that will participate in August's FIBA World Championships in Japan.
"It's an honor to be invited to represent the United States and play for USA Basketball," Hinrich said.
Hinrich raised his numbers to 20.5 points and 7.7 assists in Chicago's six playoff games.
"Kirk is a terrific addition to our USA Senior Team," USA coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "He is an excellent passer and the kind of guard who excels in an up-tempo offense."
After training camp, the roster will be whittled from 24 to 15 players, then trimmed to 12 for the World Championships, which begin Aug. 19 in Japan.
The U.S. is in Group D with 2004 Olympic silver medalist Italy, Puerto Rico, Slovenia, China and Senegal.
The winner of the 24-nation World Championships receives an automatic berth to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. If Team USA does not win, it must qualify through the 2007 FIBA Tournament of the Americas.

Makes no sense...They should have replaced him with a pure shooter, and they already have Luke Ridnour. Jordan Farmar > JJ Redick.

I forgot Luke was picked too. I am a Bulls fan so I like how Hinrich can run a team but he is a streak shooter from 20 ft out. But they do have Redd and Arenas . I dont know too many pure shooters at the point other than Bibby.
