mixtape/street album....Ras is currently in the final stages of litigation for getting off his contract with Capitol Records.  Once that happens within the next few months you should see him signing to another major label and doing something big again..

I disagree. Hip-hop was built on braggadocio and plenty of emcees made their rep off 'no-name' battle rhymes bigging themselves up (LL for example). I'd rather hear a rapper of Ras' calibre spitting shit like this than a lesser rapper trying to sell me a 'concept' track.

Personally I think this track is hot as fuck. Soul On Ice is forever a classic to me. I lost a little faith in the guy after Rassassination and the Re-up compilation, but Institutionalized is so fucking dope (I'm still bumpong it regularly), that I can't wait for some new shit (and I didn;t even get Revenge of the spit yet:-[)

How can he still be on his deal? Well, at least the guy has been working really hard ever since he came out of jail. This is like his 3rd mixtape in a year or so? He deserves a deal, no doubt....just don't know who will be signing him. Seems like there are a lot of Westcoast artists who deserve a deal, but nobody new is really getting signed.
