QUICK TO JUMP SHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: January 12, 2002, 06:13:36 PM »
Yall muthafuckas are quick to jump ship.  Last month yall was all saying that "death aint shit they don't have anybody" now that they signed kurupt yall talking like they the tightest label in rap.  Yall talking about Crooked I like he the savior of the west coast.  Yall herd him on about 4 songs as a guest.  What has Crooked I done in rap? Nothing.  Im hearing all this Kurupt talk like he going to just blow the fuck up cause he's on death row now.  Last month yall saying that he totally fell off, how sorry his shit is, now yall ridin his dick cause he's in the news.  Kurupt has never been without the dpg well see what he does without them in his corner.
I even see yall talking about this "eastwood" guy.  Some cat who stole that name from snoop.  Everybody know snoops says "snoop eastwood" now this cat is "eastwood".  Yall saying that "I assume he tight"  You aint never herd him before.
Do yall really think suge makes a diffrence.  Suge has nothing to do with the music that gets put out.  Suge does not rap or produce so he don't have nothing to do with the music. He just writes the checks ( or at least he's supposed to).
Yall say Doggystyle does not push units and this may be true but look at this.  Tha last meal was half doggystyle so that a 2x plac right there.  The first Eastsidaz album went 1.5x and the second one went gold. really the only label pushing mad units is def jam and aftermath.  But even with aftermath they did not put one album in the whole year and will not put out anything this year untill the middle of the year.

Sometimes it seems like yall just ride the hottest dick in town at the moment.  The same ones who always say "ohh Snoop fell off" will be the same ones saying "Snoop really did on this one" when his album drops.  Stop being a bunch of little Kurupts and trading teams all the damn time.

Props to Slickk-(even though you like whatever snoop does, you never trading you stick to what you believe in.  That tight)
Props to Bpg-( you never take sides its just all about the west with you.  Your not ridin death row or your not ridin doggystyle you just stay neutral)

There was a time when I hated Tha Row.... but I grew outta of that... I can't see it  from Kurupts view, but it's Westcoast music... the only thing I can't see is Kurupt dissing DPG... then it's not a business move anymore... it's a bitch move... good luck to Kurupt, but he has to see who really supported him over the last year

With Kurupt signing, I look at that label in the same way.  Kurupt won't helped them commercially, Hell No.  Crooked I will though, by the sounds of his joint with Sisqo.  I'll still cop their albums.

Good post, I didn't know much of Crooked I, other than he's been on some Kurupt-tracks, and know anybody acts like he the new 2Pac. He just started his career, it's just like saying that E-White is a legend, people aint never heard anything of them, knahmasayin'? Hiphop-headz barely heard of Crooked I, u ask anybody else they say: "Crooked who"? He comes aight on So damn hood, but he just started out. Royce 5'9 is tight, Sticky Fingaz is tight, but they all on rookie-level when they up against the big catz. I doubt if Row can make Crooked sell plat or even gold, he's pretty unheard of, just see what Xzibit's 2 first Lp's sold, and he even a more distinguised/tighter rapper. I think they will get problems even selling Kurupt; theRow as of now got no good producers, no obvious well-known colabo-artists besides their own artists.

Yeah, but my point is that he is mainly featured on underground-cds, none of which sells too much, and this way doesnt get proper recognition from the mainstream hiphop-buying public. This "So damn hood" might help him to get this recognition though, as he's a good talent. Thanks for the "Getaway"-track by the way!!

Yeah "so damn hood" is a cool song, but can you really see Carson Daily saying " heres Crooked I with So Damn Hood" Maybe you do but I dont.  Another thing "So damn hood" is tight but is it really a ground breaking song. is it "nothing but a g thing" is "B-Please" that put Xzibit to the mainstreem.  Is he saying anything that is not already being said by other west coast artist.  I have not even herd it on any of the west coast stations yet only on the computer. so we will have to wait and see.

ok my first point is that you obviously ain't been on this board much cos if u had then your fist statement you would have never said.

Nobody is dick-ridin Tha Row currently. Everybody who hates Tha Row still ahtes Tha Row and the people who ain't got no problem with Tha Row are just getting a little excited cos they signed some1 like Kurupt. Also ppl weren't hatin that much on Kurupt about a month a go......eve if they were hatin on Kurupt to that matter.......but since he joined Tha Row more ppl have been calling him shit than usual just cos he joined Tha Row!

Also you say that the really only record labels pushing units is Aftermath & Def Jam. Def Jam of course cos they involved in all music now but every1 take Tha Row as individual sayin if Crooked I weren't there then where would you be. Well if Eminem or Dre weren't on Aftermath then Aftermath wouldn't exactly be pushing that much unites either.

Def Jam is the only real label pushing major units on a consistant basis no other label can say that (maybe Interscope).

I like to try and stay neutral in all this but when you got ppl like you always wanting to bring Tha Row down but keep Snoop and Dre up it gets annoying. Ppl just wanna let Tha Row do wot they do instead of hatin it all the time. I mean all the time you hear Tha Row gettin hated on it's always "yeah Suge done this to Dre and said this about Snoop". Yes that is right Suge Knight did do it but does that mean you gotta bring down Tha Row and all their artists on it aswell?????

Also you last point about Crooked I that is he saying anything that WestCoast artists ain't already saying. Does Dre ever talk about anything more than Bitches, does Snoop ever talk about anything more than Fuck Tha Row, Bitches and Drinkin. No. A lot of artists are just out there to sell cos wot they talk about they know is gonna sell cos that what most ppl like to hear. I mean every1 say that Chronic 2001 is a classic. How? Cos Dre only ever change the subject from bitches twice on the album from 22 songs.......now to talk about the same thing on a whole album and call it a classic.....I wouldn't....cos classis have got to be talkin bout different topics....showin that you can do any type of style or rap bout anything. And I ain't hatin on Dre or Snoop here but every1 like to mention them when they talk about Tha Row so I fot I'd just keep the trend runnin.

N-Imy I respect your points, and yes you are right I have not been on this board that long but I have been here over a month.  And if you go back a couple of pages to the "who fell of the most" post almost everyone had Kurupt on there.  I liked space boogie but mostly because of Fred Wreck.  My post is not directed towards ppl like you.  You mostly stick up for Death Row all the time.  Im talking the ppl who switched up.  I will tell you from the jump  "I DONT LIKE DEATH ROW, THA ROW, UNTOUCHABLE ROW, OR WHAT EVER YOU CALL IT."  The reason I dont like them is because they are not about anything.  What kind of company slaps their artist when they do somthing wrong, They beat u up if you couldnt rap, They have these new little catz dissin Snoop and Dre Daz for no reason at all.  If Death Row was about making music and not worring about Snoop all the time, Dre all the time Maybe I would feel diffrent.  You say snoop talks about Fuck Death Row but all that is underground.  He does not put that out there on retail like Death Row.  Snoop could easily make a diss song and put it on the main streem to sell more records but he does not need to do that.
death row makes those songs to sell records, and I dont think thats cool.  Even now, they still talking shit about snoop.  Suge always callin him Snooper duper and saying that he named him snoop dogg, when we all know thats a lie.  Snoops demo song was Super-duper. He even was dissin kurupt saying that he was making girl music and he made him gangsta.  Everytime I see him talk its negitve.  But maybe you are a negitive person so you like all of that, I dont know you.  So that's why I dont like death row or their artist.  You should buy the DVD of "welcome to death row" it will tell you a lot about suge.

Aight, i look at it like this, Tha Row/Deathrow want beef with Snoop, mainly cause Snoops the biggest cat on the West who'll respond to their disses, everyone knows beefs help sell records, and when/if this Deathrow Killa EP Daz is planning happens, this beef may well escalate into something major, now the last time Tha Row had major beef with someone was the 'Bad Boy' east/west shit, and that beef ended with the death of 2pac (G.O.A.T) and Biggie, now their deaths imo, were two very bad things, so im not gonna support Tha Row as long as their tryin to beef with cats kna mean.

If Eastcoast cats wanna beef with each other fine, but lets keep the West beef free and concentrate on the music, thats just my 2 pence...

You make some good points, but you do know that movie is produced by Harry O's wife, don't you? So thats coming straight from someone with "an axe to grind" about Death Row.
