Rap songs with a positive message toward the youth
« on: August 01, 2006, 11:53:44 AM »
In my thesis on hip-hop culture, there will be a chapter in which I discuss rap songs with a positive message toward the youth. There's so much bullshit surrounding hip-hop these days (its image to start with), so therefore I'd like to show that some rappers care about the youth.

For instance, Fat Joe's "Gangsta":

Now she's raising hell in her cell, no one hears her hollering
You might suffer the same fate if you repeat the following
Sell drugs, use drugs, get caught up in the mix
End up locked up or dead in a casket, that's it

^^^^Perhaps not the best example of 'a positive message', but if you've heard the entire song, then you know that Fat Joe is sending out a warning to the youth, especially in that last line.
Feel free to add songs that contain a similar positive message.

Thanks in advance!
