Brooklyn rapper/actor Mos Def will release his first album since 2004's 'The New Danger,' on Sept. 26. Dubbed 'True Magic,' the effort includes new tracks like 'The Undeniable' and 'There Is a Way.'

'True Magic' isn't the only new release from the prolific entertainer. Following the successful 24-second short film Mos created for Converse's Spring 2006 Brand Democracy ad campaign, he has his own Converse shoe coming out. The Chuck Taylor All Star Mid Music, based on the classic Chuck Taylor All Star sneaker, will be available Aug. 1 at both Foot Locker and the Converse Web site.

The sneaks will feature laser-etched pictures of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan skyline.

Quite suprised nothing has been mentioned about this album before now, don't even know whos meant to be doing production on it or anything. Always look forward to some new Mos Def though so will definitely be picking this up when it drops.

I'm looking forward to this. He's willing to take chances with his music, but still stay true to himself, see The New Danger.

Production will probably be handled by Mos and his band like his other 2 solos. Cant wait for this. Mos is the last of a dead breed.

It was only the last album that really had a band on it. Black On Both Sides had a lot of different producers on it, and had Mos Def and Weldon Irvine playing keys on it, but not a whole band.

I hope it's like his last album, not that his first one wasn't great.

Most hip-hop is now keyboard driven, because the majority of hip-hop workstations have loops and patches that enable somebody with marginal skills to put tracks together,...

Unfortunately, most hip-hop artists gravitated towards the path of least resistance by relying on these pre-set patches. As a result, electric guitar and real musicians became devalued, and a lot of hip-hop now sounds the same.

Rapper Mos Def makes an uncharacteristically quick return next month with a new studio album, "Tru3 Magic." Due Sept. 19 via Geffen, the set boasts production from Pharrell Williams, Kayne West and Rich Harrison, among others.

And while the track list has yet to be announced, "Tru3 Magic" will be led by the track "Boogie Man," a spare track featuring prominent piano lines, live drumming and shout-outs to Mos Def's native Brooklyn as well as newscaster Walter Cronkite.

"Tru3 Magic" is the follow-up to 2004's "The New Danger," which has sold 445,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. That was Mos Def's first solo album since 1999's acclaimed "Black on Both Sides."

Mos is the last of a dead breed.

That is so true. He's one of the very few that's keeping hip-hop alive for me. Good to hear he's coming with another album, I've been waiting for that.

I hope it's better than his last album, that was disappointing. I hope he sticks to hip hop on this album.

I liked both of his solo albums but out of the two i like 'The New Danger' the best because he took some chances on having more blues and jazz sound to his music and it worked pretty good. I can't wait to hear what this albums going to sound like.
