What Does it mean to be a Five Percenter?
And how does it relate to hip-hop?
Any authentic hip-hop head has noticed artists such as Nas, Rza, AZ, Busta Rhymes, etc. using the word "God" in their rhymes, or when in conversation. Calling another man "God" is more then a device to subtly biuld confidence between one in nother.
(The word, "man" was a phrase started amongst African American's to combat the negetive term "boy" that was often used to degrade black people.)
"I've been in jail with brothers having conversations calling themselves "God". Bespeaks the late 2pac Shakur after his 95 incarceration, "If you God, then open the gate for me. You know how far the sun is and how far the moon is, (but) how the hell do I pop this fuckin gate? And get me free and up outta here. Then I'll be a 5 percenter for life."
2pac's critique of 5%'s makes one wonder if he is fully aware of exactly what it means to be 5%, and a member of the 5% Nation. The 5% Nation was created among black inmates in the New York prisons.
As New York resident and hip-hop exec. Russel Simmons puts it, "If the Nation of Islam is a religion that finds it's converts in prison, 5 percenters find their converts under the prison. That's how street it is."
The science behind the 5% religion is this. The word religion can be broke down to mean (re= back, ligre= back = Bind Back. So if religion means binding back. Then what is it we are binding back to? According to 5%'s relgion means to bind back to your origional self and origional name. Thus giving you knowledge of self. They believe that the Asiatic, Asiatic meaning black man, was the origional man. For you can't get black out of white. Only white from black. Therefore black men were the Earths first people. So therefore, under this logic, black man is god.
(it has also been said that 90% of people have knowledge. 5 percent keep it to themselves. And only 5% distribute that knowledge amongst the people this is the shortened version, it goes deeper then this, if you'd like to here the extended version e-mail me)
If black man is god, 'the origional man' then the question is often asked, can white people be 5 percenters? True 5%'s will tell you that he can, only if and when he first loses his white mind. This most likely means he must first recognize that the black man, was the Earths first people.
5%'s refer to their women as Earths. Peep the Science: The God, (Man), plants seeds in the Earth. (fertilizes the ovaries) God also teaches the youth, rather waters his seeds, (children) with the water which is wisdom. So they can grow with knowledge of self. Therefore it is every 5%'s duty to teach his people, and teach the children knowledge of self.

that is sum good, informative piece of writing you have there but is really only for the religious type. I do not wish to be considered part of any religion as I do not believe in god creating man and that but one thing I do believe in is "the meaning of life" and one thing that struck me about 2 months back was this film. It was rated "U" but generated a great perspective of us knowing the meaning of life but then losing that meaning.
It was about these babies who knew the meaning of life when they were 1/2 yrs old but as they learned to talk they "crossed-over" and lost the memory of the "meaning of life" as if there memory had been erased of all past and had started afresh with only learning to talk being left in the memory. I mean think about it. The mind cannot think back to when you were around the age of 1 to at least 6 and you cannot remember wot you did back then. Maybe sometimes you can but especially when you were a baby you can rememebr absolutely nothing you did and maybe that is when you know the meaning to life. It is summin that would grasp my interest anyday but I cannot seriously see human beings finding out the meaning of life becos no-one knows. I mean we could be part of at least 6 universes or maybe even more or that as maybe though we once lived on mars but moved planet to what we now call earth. Did the big bang really happen? I mean I know this may sound stupid but we could easily be getting watched by ppl as they are experimenting with us to see if they can create life but life destroys itself. We could be part of a big experiment! But I mean I know a parts of wot I am saying may not be believable but nobody knows.
Anyways I enjoyed reading part of your upcoming book and I may buy it becos I haven't read anything worthwhile in months but it wasn't really relevant (not in the cheeky sense) to me as religion means nothing to me
Peace ~1~

i don't mean to offend any one here, but about 70% of what 5% believe in is just stuff for black people to feel better about how they were opressed for how long they were, and A LOT of the stuff that come from that religion or theory on life is false or stretching the truth to make the black race look stronger
for example how infinate says that 5% believe that you can't get black from white , but only white from black....unless black people are some superior beings (which they are not, they are the same as a mexican person as myself ...just darker with slightly different characteristics) you can get a black man from ANY race, it's called ADAPTATION, black people are black becuase of the region in the world they are from...hot and dry so dark skin and fuzzy hair acomidate that (have you ever noticed how much lighter and much more white characteristcs black people are in the US and UK have compared to true blue africans, hell white people in the US don't look like white people in the UK and Russia most of the time!)...then the northern you go the lighter you get and the lankier your hair is....there is a BIG debate over where the humans originated from...the oldest human ever found is in Africa this is true....but too many blacks override that, the first man quite possibly could've been from Asia or the middle east....and the chinese have relatively white skin compared to an african, there's a BIG debate over this
again like i said , i'm not dissing NO ONE, if you're a 5% hey more power to you , a couple of my favorite rappers are down with that....i'm just saying i find alot of flaws and misconceptions with that religion/way of life.....i'm sorry but i find somthing seriously wrong with religion that overpromotes one race. and i also feel it is a slight corroption to true Islam (which i'm not apart of , but i respect)

To clear up any confusion...... This was an editorial, NOT an excerpt from my book.... There are a few editorials at my website on several topics unrelated... and I am not a Five Percenter although I believe there is something to be learned from them... Peace.
