Mak n Dilli - the choice you made as consumer
« on: December 21, 2001, 07:54:11 PM »
wass crackin, i been peepin some of the feedback after Daz and DPG Recordz had to postpone the release of Mak and Dilli.  Here are my thoughts, fuck anyone who says im DPG dick ryding cuz this is my REAL opinion, not influenced by musical tastes simply common sense....here it goes...

...so what happened when Daz surprised us all and announced he was going to release makaveli and dillinger...a whoooole gang of us were fuckin pumped, the EP that we had heard of but never even come close to hearing was going to drop come xmas time. the price was expensive, daaamn expensive, some of us copped it, others copped it when the price dropped (myself included).  Daz remained confident in the fact that the cd would make its release date and we were all kept in suspense.  The cd was slated for a release of December 25, xmas day, kinda cool huh?  Again, everyone who ordered it, knew in the back of their mind, that there was a possibility that this ep's release could see complications. WEve all seen how all 2pac material is held on too tightly and scrutinized and revamped before it is released, artists like the outlawz, e-40 and others have struggled with no success in tryin to get there material accompanyed by a 2pac guest vocal to see the light of day.  But as DPG and 2pac fans we held on to the notion that maybe, just maybe daz would have the balls and independant ability to release the material.  None of us really cared if it was legal, we just knew that daz would drop some hardcore pac shit, something untouched by the Amaru camp, something weve all been waiting for. So we took the chance, we bought and weve been waiting since.  Now, its come time, and it looks like were not getting the ep, and were probably not.  Alotta peeps have accused daz of stealing and lying about this cd even dropping, its complete bullshit tho.  From my correspondence with Daz, Daz has been completely authentic in his intentions to drop the album, never did he purposely make up this EP's release and bank on everyone buying it.  He simply took advantage of his labels situation, as an independant imprint, to funnel material he and pac recorded to an awaiting audience.  However daz recieved alot more attention then he banked on, hence the legal injuncture imposed against Daz by Amaru, and now a delayed possibly suspended release.  So what happens now, you either get your refund or wait.  The only thing i can say, is thanks Daz, thanks for tryin, God knows knowone else has gone thru what u have to get material like this to fans.  Again, we all knew when this EP was advertised on DPGRecordz.com that there was the possibility that it wouldnt drop.  Everyone should face the music and hope that maybe some sort of agreement can be reached between the two camps....maybe we should start a petition....what do u guys thinks...Efrain? hollaaaa

Petition? Why man? You know i'm cool with you and DPG and this shit, but.. why in the hell??? I mean Afeni is the only one who can release Pac music. She is the one who gets money from Pac's music (Death Row too, but just cause they let Pac produce his tracks in the studious of Suge's label). Now.. why you think Daz deserves to get money from Pac material? Is Daz better than Suge, Outlawz & E-40 or what??? Naw.. man! He tried, but it was a lost game. He just CANT do it, man. Cause if the law still conts something in the USA (LOL! I study Law @ University, here. In Italy!).. a judge said that Afeni is the only one who can (and GOTTA) get money from Pac's music and image.

I dont care if it's good or not, if it's cool or not. It's LAW! It's THIS. You cant be so stupid to say "FUCK THE LAW". It's ok if you 15 years old. Or if u a black man strugglin with the Police in a ghetto. But c'mon... Daz is supposed to be a business man. Almost 30. WTF?

Plus... ok, he fought to release it, and he lost. But.. why he said it ONLY NOW????? He knew it from a pair of months, even more (from when Afeni said she was about to sue Daz, and from when Outlawz said in no way Daz was able to release those tracks), so why he revealed it only 2 days ago? Maybe for interests with the bank? Maybe to make additional problems with Paypal? Why? Shit.. you cant say he tried to release it for us fans when the price was $500. It aint what i call FOR THE FANS. It's something AGAINST the fans. To loose $5 aint a problem, but damn.. $500?? Plus.. why ask $500 if he tought he was able to release it? And.. the most important thing.. why wait December to release it? Just to loose time and to make Afeni sue him? What? Explain, please! Cause there are no excuses or explanation about it, man. Even if you a friend of him and i'm a GREAT fan of him (and Pac). Holla.

no offense antonio, but while your in italy studying italian law, there are real people in America workin to make things happen, so you as a consumer can purchase music like RAW, Dillinger and Young Gotti and so on, appreciate that homie.  Second, if anyone knows Daz i do, and what your saying about him knowing the album wasnt going to be released is bullshit, i talk to daz and his management team on the regular, so i know the real.  Daz is not a Suge Knight, he has had hte best intentions with this release, and yes i wont deny some of these were influenced by monetary rewards, but again one goal was to get pac and dpg music to fans in an untouched pure form, i can of all people appreciate that, thats why im saying we start a petition, because we as consumers have a right to demand something of the retailer and label, so im sayin lets do this, if you dont want to or dont believe in the cause, then dont sign the petition.  Again, dont speak on Daz and this release like you know him, cuz you dont, while your 3000 miles away, im 3 minutes away, im serious man, i keep correspondance with peeps like Daz, and he has kept it real with this release since day one, BELIEVE THAT.

Yeah, no offence man. ;) I trust you, u know..

You wrote that while i'm here in italy studying law there are "REAL" people in American working to make things happen? What the fuck you mean with "REAL PEOPLE IN AMERICA"? Is it just a wrong word? ("REAL"). C'mon man.. arent u racist or stupid like those guys who thinks that rap is just for black males, arent you? BTW.. man.. what u want me to do? To work to get this EP released? It aint my business, man. I cant see the point of your argument.. I'm not getting paid with it, and i'm not the one getting money from it. What u mean with "while i'm here studying there are guys working on it??". It's logic. It's life. Oh.. and i appreciate the fact that Daz worked hard to release RAW, etc.. but this aint the point of my post.

About you knowing Daz.. i know that! I'm not saying that he did it to rob people, homie. U get me wrong on this. I just said that, after Afeni said he wanted to sue Daz with $100 millions, and after Outlawz saying this shit too, he waited 3 months to say this shit on his site. Why? Plus we all knew that it was pratically impossible to release it cause E-40 tried it, and Outlawz too (like u said). I'm just asking some simple questions:

1) Why $500 when he was sure to release it?
2) Why december and not summer?
3) Why he waited so much to write it on the site?

FUCK THE FACT THAT U LIKE 3 MINS FROM HIM, it doesnt mean a shit, man!  ;)

U didnt replied to my questions. Ok, you know him and i hope u have a chance to drink something with him too this saturday, but.. does it mean something? I mean.. THE ANSWERS!!

About the petition.. u wanna make a petition AGAINST Afeni? To force her to give Daz authorization to release the EP? Man.. it's clear that u dont know law! (no offence again, man! For real.. you know!). I mean u just cant change a law. A judge said Afeni got the rights to decide about Pac's unreleased tracks, so.. if she doesnt wanna give Daz authorization to release em and if she wanna add em to the new upcoming CD of Pac.... SHE CAN DO IT. AND NOBODY CAN FORCE EM TO CHANGE HIS MIND. I mean.. why DAZ gotta have the rights to sell this shit to $500 and to make a million with those EP's, using Pac tracks? What about Afeni? There's a law that is clear as fuck! YOU CANT DO WHAT DAZ DID. Then he can work hard, etc.. He can think to sell it to $500 or $10000000. It doesnt change a shit! He just cant do it. PERIOD.

I can't believe you wrote that....LOL.
You think Daz is a businessman struggling to get music out to his beloved fans.....LMAO!!!
It's sad but some people never learn, this time next year you'll still be sending Daz your money and wondering where your records are. And you'll still be a fan.
How could you possibly trust, or even respect anyone who's asking $500 for a C.D.?
