The West Coast doesn't even support their own artists as much..

Look at KDAY's playlist http://www.935kday.com/index.php

Look at power 106's playlist http://www.power106.fm/playlist/index.aspx

power 106 is  a little better.. but still.. they need to act like NY and give their artists a bigger buzz.

now look at Houston's playlist..

Party 104.9 http://www.party1049.com/pages/70649.php?contentType=4&contentId=190413
97.9 The Box http://www.kbxx.com/playlist.asp

See how they only support the south and only play the MAJOR MAJOR songs.. But they don't give the WC any play.. Thats why all their artists are going gold and platinum..  I'm not saying Daz should go platinum, but his album is probably better than half the people who are doing well in the south.

I agree, but I guess they have to play what gets requested...We need to blame it on the consumers out here who eat that shit up just as much as we blame it on the radios...It'll take a group effort to put the west coast back on top of things, unfortunately, no one will ever realize that...PeACe

EXACTLY. LOL People that thought it would sell more than 50 grand. Now for it to have some staying power the singles will have to be played more, Weekend needs to drop and up the amount of appearances and shows.

Of course we expected it to sell at least 50,000, I'm sure Daz did too...He coulda' sold 23,000 with a fucking independant release and made 10X more money...If you think 23,000 is what was expected, then you don't know the difference between releasing major albums and releasing shit independantly...PeACe

For the amount of promotion and delays this album got? Hell yeah I expected it to sell 23,000 copies. This album has been talked about for at least 3 years and all of a sudden it drops. The release date changed at least 3 times this year alone. I agree he should have dropped indie with those numbers but the promotion for the album was shit. Hurry up the last month before your album drops aint gonna cut it. Now you can take the Cali Iz Active approach and scrap it or you can try to promote the album a little bit more.

Or he can just smoke crack and make 7 independant albums in the span of a month to make up for the loss, which is the route he'll most likely take...

And it is not like all these other artists are burning up the charts. Hell Daz was 35 on the charts. That aint bad considering the state of music right now. People are just not buying albums like they used to. And just because Daz is a household name and legend in this forum does not translate into platinum and gold plaques in the real world. Daz is almost like a underground artist to most people.

people only request what they hear. if you play a track 10 times in a row, it tends to grow on you. how many songs have you heard where it took awhile to start feeling it? The radio djs are just playing what they are paid to play

i think times like this is where i miss Death Row Records.. They had a deal with Interscope like G-unit and Aftermath does. They were getting all sorts of radio play.. Now that we don't have a true west coast record label with a good deal it seems that the music is getting shitted on.

But you see, the average consumer is too dumb nowadays to feel a song like lets say "Cali Iz Active" enough to continuously request it...Regardless, even if they heard it on the radio tons of times, kids can't feel that shit anymore, it's too much for them, they want some "Laffy Taffy" shit, some "Meet Me In The Club" shit...It basically comes down to the generations getting dumber and dumber and being down with some of the gayest shit ever...PeACe
