Man this cut right here is the shit. That was a great 1st single for the Eastsidaz. Their second album was dope too but it did not get the push this one did. I noticed it looks like Kobe's wife Vanessa is in this video. She is the one in the convertible.

When I first listened to the album it had alot of guests on there, but they kept it all west coast on there. Kind of like what Xzibit is doing with his new one. That and everyone on there meshed well within the song. A few bricks here and there but a bangin album all around. The 2nd was a little more mainstream but the production on the 2nd was sick. Tray Dee was in a zone on both albums.

Yeah the second is better. They sounded more like a group on there and Snoop allowed Goldie and Tray Dee to shine more on the 2nd one. But the production was crazy on there. Snoop has always had some great producers to choose from. Fred, Battlecat, the list goes on and on.

I gotta say I like the first one best, but both records are GREAT!

What still wonders me from time to time is this...how the HELL could Duces N Trays sell A MILLION (!!!) copies, being the near-classic west coast record that it is, when now, only a few years after, west coast rapper are struggling just to make it past the 5,000 bar!! ??

My point is, if a record like Duces could sell a million records there is still hope for the west....

I think back then it was the approach of record labels. Back then labels did not mind putting out dope shit like a G'D UP or I Luv It (TVT in the case for the Eastsidaz). But once there was a shift into this Mr. Suess shit we have to endure on the radio, every else did not matter because it is not selling as well. Now everyone is looking for another "It's Going Down" or "Chain Hang Low". Nobody wants to be diverse anymore. You get a couple albums that slip through and are really different or good that sell, but in the end you have a bunch of artists compromising their sound to sell.
