A North American tour, again called the Chinese Democracy Tour, has been announced and will commence on October 20, 2006. Four warm-up shows for the tour were held in September 2006, with two at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and two at Warfield Theatre in San Francisco.

Gn'R is on their American tour now.  I saw them in Vegas at the Hard Rock last month, really good show with great energy from the crowd and band.  Axl's voice is 100 times better than the last comeback tour (not quite 80's or 90's era, but up there).  The guitarists are really skilled as well and really play with a lot of enthusiasm and energy.  One of my friend's that went with us to the Vegas show didn't really like Axl and the show totally changed his mind about the band and he's now a big fan.  I also saw them in San Franscisco last month and the show was good as well.  Judge them for yourself, dont let bullshit rumors or the fact Slash isnt there deter you from giving them a chance.  According to Rollingstone.com the album is due November 21st.  Check for some of the bootlegs of the euro tour '06 or some of the new demos that have leaked in the last year (Better, IRS) and judge for yourself.

Shit I can remember way back in 96 that MTV was saying to look for Chinese Democracy to drop late in the year.  So it's been 10 years and still no album.  I think it gets a release date every year but it never happens.  But you know it's not really Guns N Roses - it's just Axl.  That lineup has been completely rehauled several times.  Not saying that they don't have talented musicians, but it's def not gonna feel like vintage GNR imo.  Having said that, I'd still check for an album if one were actually released.

Why doesn't he just go by Axl Rose since this basically is going to be a solo album and no other original members are left in the band.

None of the original members were there when they released the first album.

The 'Guns' in GnR was Tracii Guns who left and formed the band L.A. Guns before AfD.

Yeah, obviously Tracii Guns departure was a detrimental blow to the band ::)

Once this new gnr releases an album, then they will have their own identity, and can escape some comparisons to the gnr of old.

They'll never escape those comparisons.

thats what i said in the last gnr thread.  Gnr has always had a kind of revolving door or characters.  But thats what bands do, they move on.
