Snoop Too Gangsta For The Radio?
« on: October 15, 2006, 08:19:20 AM »
Does Vato get any spins were you guys are from? I am out here in Vegas and Candy gets played more than Vato. It is starting to pick up a little bit but isn't it crazy the minute Snoop gets back to the hardcore gangsta rap, he gets little airplay. I was watching the video and although it has a positive message, it is a little too gangsta for tv.

Im in Seattle now and I hear it every so often on Kube 93.  I listen to more Satalite radio then I do regular radio, but there has been times when I check "terrestrial" radio to find it playing on Kube.  (yes, Im a Howard Stern NUT!!!!!)

Yeah, I just got my Sirius yesterday because I am sick of the radio. Same bs just looped over and over. Just wondered if this song is starting to get played because it does not even seem like it is out. I'm sure they will be dropping that one with R. Kelly soon.

Its the future dogg.  They got a unit that you can purchase songs as they play... kinda like an IPod \ Siruis unit in one.  I love my Sirius radio too.  Cant make it to work without it.  I wil say that I HATE SHADY45.  All they play is easty ass bullshit.  And Dre put dude on and he cant rep for the westcoast?????  I hate Shady 45.  Fuck em.  I wish E-40 would work out a deal for Hyphy Radio. That would take the Bay to another level if they had they own outlet.  Maybe 40 will read this and get at em because aint no westcoast bein rep'd on Sirius and that piss's me off.

I donno....regardless of the "roots", the song isn't a GREAT single and just isn't nearly as catchy or strong as some of his other singles. If you think about it...his biggest songs have never been "that" gangsta...it was just the image he had back then was gangsta versus pimp. Gin n Juice, Doggy Dogg World, What's my name, Nothin but a G thang weren't really the most gangsta, it was just his personality that blended with the amazing beats and his flow on em, along with everything else that made it dope. Dre Day is classic, but if you think about it, it got the most play in L.A. and on MTV...it isn't remembered nearly as much outside of L.A. I have never in my life heard it in a club or anything outside of L.A....but L.A. people like it almost as much as "G thang". And same with Deep Cover....that song was never a huge single like that...but it's seen as a classic because of what Dre and Snoop have done since then...just as "Reasonable doubt" wasn't seen as classic until later in Jay's career.

Vato is not a good single...and I see it more as a street single, plus "Thats That Shit" is not a Good Follow Up...

I agree with that.  I thought this was really gonna be a huge album for Snoop, but tracks like "Thats That Shit" and that other one with the 9 inch dix dont impress me at all.....Sounds like the same old R&G/Chuuch shit weve been hearing for the last couple years....Dont really like Candy either, altho Vato IS pretty dope.
