This is what I don't get about the Raiders

As a long time Raider fan, I've been told about the deep ball, the deep ball. But the Raiders haven't been to the Super Bowl with a deep ball passer since 1967, when "the Mad Bomber" Daryle Lamonica led the AFL in passing with 3,228 yards and 30 TDs, and the Raiders made it to the Super Bowl. Since then, they made it to the Super Bowl with "The Snake" Kenny Stabler, who was known as a left handed scramble, and at most would hit a 20 yard pass. But Kenny did two things correctly, he was very accurate, and he just won, leading the Raiders to many come from behind victories. Jim Plunkett won two Super Bowls for the Raiders, both years he backed up a quarterback the Raiders thought had a better arm, Dan Pastorini and Marc Wilson. Both quartbacks were injuried, and in Pastorini's case, the Raiders lifted themselves for a losing season to the wild card, and evenually a Super Bowl win. In Wilson's case, Plunkett proved better leadership as Wilson was inexperienced, and the team rallied around Plunkett to defeat the Redskins in the worst Super Bowl beating of the time. Then the Raiders went through every deep ball quarterback, from Jay Schroeder, Todd Marinovich, Jeff Hostetler (who was another short, but accurate passer, that was a leader. Too bad he got hurt in 1995, because the Raiders were 8-2 with him, and lost 6 in a row when he got injuried.) and of course my favorite deep ball passer, Jeff George. It wasn't until Rich Gannon did the Raiders ever seen a true leader as their quarterback (outside of the very short Raider career of Hostetler), and Gannon again was a short passer who was accurate and who lead the team.


I think it's time the Raiders come off this deep ball theory, as Kerry Collins didn't work, this Andrew Walter ain't gonna work as a Raider, and anything short of Vince Young really is hurting the Raiders. With that said, WHY DO WE STILL GET DEEP BALL QBS!!! Trade Moss for Young (I love Moss, my favorite player since Marshall, but we are ruining a great talent who needs to shine, and we need to rebuild. I will love to see Moss in the playoffs, well the Raiders rebuild. I will always have the memories) or any other young QB who can get the ball to the receiver, trade Sapp for some picks, and lets rebuild this thing. I'd trade Jordan too, get some more picks, let get the best young O-Line we can fine, I'd prefer smaller, quicker ones like the ones in Denver, get a back who can pound 30 carries a game, get some fast young DBs who are flashy, cocky, and get picks (I miss you Woodson, good luck in with your career) and make Jerry Porter sit on the bench, and rot. His not the same class as Marcus Allen, Allen should have never been treated the way he was, but that strategy works perfect for Porter. Let him rot, and he'll never be the same again. I also think we should get Chucky back, but maybe a new young coach would do. But man, we need change.

Yeah that O-Line is horrible. BIg guys but they don't seem coordinated as wierd as that sounds. No pass protection= no deep ball. You can't throw to Moss when your running for your life in the backfield. No run protection= no running game. The D has been playing good but when you are having so many 3 & outs on O, there is no way a D in the NFL is going to be able to hold up if you are not scoring points.

lmao@ Moss for Young. Nobody is gonna give up any young QB for moss. Hell look at what the Vikings got for Moss-pretty much nothing worth mentioning. Now Moss is older and really doesn't seem like the same player he used to be, so don't count on ever getting anything good for him. I really doubt you'd get much for Sapp either, but might as well take what you can get.

again, a rich Californian. The hood is all about the Raiders, for better or for worst. When was the last time the Niners made the Super Bowl, and honestly, if we can get something for Moss, the Raiders will be closer to the Super Bowl than the Niners.

As for the Young/Moss trade, I doubt it will happen, but we need to get a young QB for him. Throw in some picks if you have to, but the Raiders need something. I want Moss to be on a winning team, I'm sure someone like Manning wouldn't mind having Moss, or Brees.
