Xzibit- Full Circle Appreciation Thread
« on: October 17, 2006, 02:34:07 PM »
Just picked up the album and I have given it a listen all the way through and the shit is dope to me. It is more uptempo than WOMD and personal also. The beats were better than I thought but they could have been better. Favorite tracks: Scandalous Bitches, Rampart Division, Say It To My Face, man pretty much the whole album. Like I said, more uptempo than his last 2, but I think it is definitely better than MVM and a little bit better than WOMD so for me it is his 4th best. Definitely go out and support this you won't be disappointed. Good to hear King Tee and X linking back up. And Quik sounded fly as hell too. West West yall. Feel free to drop thoughts.

it's cool, but to be honest it doesn't have great replay value

to me lots of the tracks sound the same

it's kinda boring in a way, but don't get me wrong I'm not putting it down

there are a few tracks with good replay value, but again it's got a boring feel to it

"Restless" and "Man vs. Machine" are really great, I play them all the time, and the sound quality is tons better

but that's obvious because of the mixing etc.

this album isn't colorful enough, doesn't have that bounce to it

Yeah Dre did his thing on mixing those 2. This one sounds more stripped down with alot of the drums and baselines, but the quality tracks on here are top notch.

Yeah I listened to most of it in my car. Movin In Ya Chucks is obviously not a favorite on this forum but the baseline in my car was sick. So was the remix to Rollin. It is starting to grow on me the more I listen to it.

Did it come w/ the 3 bonus tracks?  Best Buy advertises it in their ad, but Circuit City doesn't.

that's one of the best tracks... I did take Kurupt out of my version tho, which makes it 10x more enjoyable

the second cd, with the three bonus tracks, is stamped "available exclusively from best buy."

1. concentrate - san quinn remix
2. rollin west sdie remix
3. a minute to pray

it is the same situation with hi-tek's album; you get a bonus dvd and three extra tracks when you pick it up at best buy.  they are also running the special on-line, each album is 9.99 with free shipping.

I don't know. I got my copy today and finally heard the album in its entirety for the first time, so I can't really say yet. But what I can already say is that its nothing outstanding. I was disappointed with some songs, like "Ram Part Division" (especially Quiks beat). The good thing about the song is that it's something different, but it has absolutely no replay value. And that's probably gonna be the problem with the rest of the songs, cause I can play them all today, but who knows about next week or next month. There's something missing on the album, like a off-the-chain-song that makes me wanna have it on repeat. It's not Xzibit's fault cause he came off dope most of the time (flow and content wise), but some of the beats seem out of place.

I agree, I always loved Xzibit but I really don't feel the beats on this album. Production on WOMD was 100x better!

WOMD also had a waaay more cohesive sound to it, as well.  And better structure.
"Detox" is a myth -- Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Area 51, Iraq having WMD, Detox...you get it now?  It was invented by the Aftermath marketing department to maintain the fans' attention.  Notice how everytime a new Aftermath album is ready to come out, they always mention Detox is next up?  Because they are using the invention of "Detox" as a way to market other albums.  The sooner you realize that Detox is NOT REAL, the sooner you'll feel liberated.  Oh yeah, f.u. Aftermath for fooling us fans.

Well, sorry to say it, but this is why you should never assume that an artist being out of the majors is a good thing - production quality is almost definitely gonna be lowered, and the album as a whole gon sound less polished.

That said, I kinda liked this album - it's better than I thought it would be, just a far cry from "Restless".

Everything he does from here on out, we will be saying the same thing...No way will he ever be able to match restless...I think his lyrics are very on point all cd, but im not crazy about the beats...
