All preseason long, Kobe Bryant has insisted he'd be ready for the Lakers' season opener against the Suns.

Now it turns out, that may not be the case.
According to a report in the Los Angeles Times, a team official called Bryant "questionable to doubtful" for Tuesday's opener, as his recovery from off-season knee surgery has taken longer than originally anticipated.

Bryant did not play in L.A.'s final exhibition game Thursday, working out individually instead.

"I don't know," Bryant said. "We'll see. I worked out really, really hard (Thursday). We'll just see how it feels in the morning. This is the hardest workout I had. I ran about an hour straight, just doing line drills and things like that. Then I went and shot the ball. It was a little sore afterwards, a little sore now, but nothing major. The big thing is always the next day."

"We as an organization, we're not going to gamble and try to bring him back too early," assistant coach Kurt Rambis said. "If he feels like that's all the time that he needs and it responds well, and he goes out there and stresses it the way that it needs to be stressed to handle the rigors of playing an NBA game, and it doesn't bother him the following day, he can make that decision."

well the Lakers are gonna be REALLY fucked if this injury slows Kobe down.  Hopefully he recovers and is full strength soon.

If he's not feelin it I want him to take as much time off as he needs. Yes that would jeopardize our record, but I'd rather not jeopardize his health (and ultimately his career).

what kind of knee surgery did Kobe have anyways?  I didnt realize it was this serious...Do you think its possible Kobe could become another Penny Hardaway/McDyess/Amare?  I wouldnt think so, but you never know...Im not even sure how serious this shit was that he had done.

LMAO, don't get your hopes up...it's not that kind of surgery, he had very minor arthroscopic surgery, which usually only takes about 8-12 weeks till full recovery...It wasn't re-constructive surgery or anything like that. Kobe actually claims his knee feels better than it has in 10 years...PeACe
