Here's what I wroteSender: Brian NelsonEmail: www.infinite9559@aol.comaddress: Kansas CityMessage: I was extremely dissapointed with you review of Warren G's new album. But I can't say I was suprised. Your magazine is a pop magazine. It's materialistic, superficial, commercial garbage. You understand very little about hip-hop culture. I have all the respect in the world for Quincy Jones, but your staff seems to be exploiting hip-hop, like you write about it to make money, but have no real love for the culture. Peace.
and this is mineCongratulations, Vibe has managed to redefne the word playerhater. That word can also now describe ignorant corporate puppets who lost touch with hip hops reality years ago. That rating you people did for Warren G's album was despicable. "G funk is dead", by whose standards, the reviewer's? A guy who was probably one of those New York radio jockey or critic who did their best during the 90's to dismiss G funk and deny its innovative sound and influence?Im assuming you would go by the public's standards, seeing as that Warren has ONLY sold damn near 10 million copies.Seeing as that Warren still goes platinum with absolutely NO promo whatsoever, seeing as that he has given us real rap fans one classic all ready, and just served us the album of the year. If your moron of a reviewer WAS one of those East coast playahaters, he should have made those comments in private, not on a grand scale like this which can really damage an artists. "G funk is dead", thats great, I guess I'll turn on some of todays music, I cant wait to hear the new Ja Rule, how about Nelly? I will never buy your magazine again.Disgusted hip hop fan
