a) When 50 sold as much as he did in his 1st week, people on this forum said that its just becuase of beef and promotion behind him, despite the fact that he had 5 hit singles in Billboard top 10...

b) When Game sells 400.000 with no hits, its all different ?

 :eh:
50 Cent created a half-ass diss song on his album, then proceeded to kick Game off of G-Unit. You don't think he did that for sales (it worked really well to)? The promo was straight crazy for 50 Cent's album too. Then he had 5 singles that were pushed hard onto pop radio/tv. Had Dre (2 songs) and Eminem backing him.

The Game on the other hand did it with no diss songs on his album (sort of), no really intese beefs he brought up right before his album dropped, and not one single that made it past the top 75 in the US. Plus he didn't have Dr. Dre to work with.

I'll give 50 his props, he knows how to create songs and sell records, but he had the upper hand, so it's just surprising how well The Game did considering the factors above.

Game had plenty beefs. He couldnt keep 50s name out of his mouth, the "3 years after" Ras Kass diss, dissing Pharrell, saying ponintless stuff like "Im the handsomest rapper since LL"...

Like you you said in the last paragraph it mustve been the beefs and promotion machine that helped Game sell.

huh?  i'm a game fan and i like game over 50, but there is no way in hell game is more popular than 50.  50 knows how to make hit singles and appeals to a much broader audience.  i admit that 50 earned his sales through hit songs and brilliant marketing.

for me sales doesn't really have anything to do with music, except i want my favorite artists to sell more so they keep making good music.  sales matters when the artist makes a big deal out of it and shit though, but then they're setting that up for themselves.

EDIT:  I should add that while 50 had help from em and dre, he did some crazy shit with in da club (which IMO is where his fanbase really came from).  best "main" single since "the real slim shady" or "country grammar," maybe even better.
everyone has some good points,im not a big fan of 50(and to say game didnt have any influence is a lie,i was rooting for game to show and prove)but 50 does have some good music, but he also had em and dre behind him.so that right there with em's and dre's stans youre gonna get alot more people checkin for your music.game had the same thing for the documentary.dre on one side and 50 on the other.this time around after the year and a half of game having his back against the wall and people thinking he cant do it without dre or 50,is the point why its different why people dont see it the same way.50 is gonna have to come out with some thing better than the massacre and greater than GRODT for him to sell the same.wether you like it or not, game does affect what people think of g-unit.
well i have a question also, why is ok that when 50 was saying that fat joe and jada cant go gold or plat its a flop, but when his own artists cant even go gold or even drop album(mop, olivia, spider joke)its ok,think about that one! but this jus my opinion...

What I ment regarding the beef thing was that the game didn't have beef on the album (like Fif did with Jada, Joe, and Nas). That's why I added "sort of" in prenthesis, becuase he does mention Dre and 50, but doesn't call them out or mention it in interviews.
Of course The Game will always have beef. It's second nature to him.
