i'm gonna agree with most of the shit that KVB said...you really don't hear much of anything from the west...the east and now south really do most of raps sales...but it does not surprise because i was once a westcoast head before it became tiresome...besides Dres and melmans production, you can't expect anything real new...the east brings hip-hop which never gets boring, west in all gangbang, gangsta shit with tired lyrics and played out sounds...i feel the best thing in the westcoast right now is Dilated Peoples, they are hip-hop and really an east coast sounding group although they are completely underground...i also feel xzibit alot, and tha liks here and there...i would not really consider kurupt a tight lyicist anymore, his vocabulary seems to have been stripped down to 'fuck a bitch, suck a dick' which i don't find a highside to hip-hop...also eminem is definately not considered westcoast, he don't rep westcoast, he's from detroit which is far from the west...i don't even know how yall can even bring up cube's name when he has basically quit the game to pursue an acting career...dj quik hasn't held anything down for more than a weekend, although his party joints are amusing and fun to bounce to when tipsy...nate dogg is a big name in the westcoast but he hasn't proven yet that he can sell a solo record...snoop and dre and maybe xzibit is what it comes down to...i wouldn't consider 2Pac because his never-ending line of music which mostly sells because everyone wants a rap legends every work and are willing to settle with left-overs which were never meant to be released...last time i've heard an absolute amazing 2Pac cd was Makaveli and it was the last one he made while alive, coincidence i think not...the eastsidaz are broke, i know i'm gonna have some shots taken at me for that...doggys angels were a complete joke, and their sucess to date has proven it...ras kass is awesome and deserves every bit of respect he deserves...also i have a hard time finding quality snoop music which i enjoy and consider gems...there were 2 or 3 on the last meal and 2 or 3 real good ones on bones plus the wash song but that's about it...so really in the end it's like this Dre and Snoop will continue to bump, although snoop will never see the sucess of his better days, dilated peoples is the best in l.a. along with ras kass but they will probably never break through out of the underground, xzibit deserves what he's gotm eh holds it down, and the rest are in a big ball circled around and every once in awhile one will be picked out and a rare hit will surface, peace.

don't hate on me for all this shit though, peace.

Xzibit is the best West  Coast lyricist and MC, hands down,  no question.
That's an example of an MC who blew up because of his SKILLS, unlike Ja Rule and them fake pop faggots.

As for the West, dont be too angry that they dont push much units. I think back in the day when Snoop ruled every cat in New York was pissed that Death Row is the only spot that gathers all the platinum. West was once on top, and it will be again. It might not be Snoop, Spice 1, Eiht or anybody else that ruled back then, but it can be somebody fresh.

You never know when the mainstream grabs you. Did Nelly ever think he'll be major? Did DMX know that his first solo will gather so much $$$? Who knows, maybe tomorrow someone like Soopafly will be kickin Britney Sperms off the fuckin charts.

And for the host of this thread, man, you're a schizophrenic. You cant be judging ANYBODY older than your house pet if your joint of the year is "Ugly". Quit fuckin around here with that shit, get a life.

You can't hate on Bubba's flow on that song. He may not be the illest lyricist in the game, but he has skills. I'm not saying that it is jam of the year, but Bubba delivers great lyrics with a KILLER flow, and the beat is 2001's best, aside from probably "Fight Music" or "Get Ur Freak On" or "In Here" (Alchemist produced, SUPERB piano beat) off Guru's independent release, "Baldhead Slick & Da Click".

You're just another zombie that Timbaland created. He can make awesome tracks (Snoop Dogg whats my name ptII, Hola Hovito, Feel It, Luv 2 Luv Ya etc,), but he creates shit stains too. He himself knows that its crap, and he laughs at yall young people that get infected by Get Ur Freak On, Ugly etc, cuz you bring him money. You need to stick to Balhead Slick and throw that semi-hip-hop shit away .

He IS a dope producer, though somewhat overrated (I've heard magazines & Internet articles call him the best producer in the world, LOL). What you posted don't mean shit. What you posted about the beats is pointless. You call Bubba semi-hip-hop because he hasn't grown up in a black ghetto neighborhood, bullshit. The game needs more white rappers.

Kurupt lyrically weak???  Daz a wack producer???  look bro im not hatin or startin beef but u need to get your head outta your ass and really listen to their muthafuckin music man.  neither of them are wack.. the reason west coast artists dont sell much is cuz people are into that east coast-pop shit more than that gangsta shit.  but hte true hip hop fans keep it real and stick to the west.

Peace

reason tha east sellin more records iz cus they radio stations stick to they own more. out hea in kali u hear alotta eastcoast music on tha radioz. out in ny youll hear snoop, dre....n be lucky tah hear anythang else. so people out that way aint goan be likely tah hear alotta tha shit comin outta tha west. not tah mention, u got bullshit rap magazinez givin shitty ratings to westcoast albumz when they give good ratingz to sum trash eastcoast albumz. not sayin all albumz frum tha east r trash. but most ny criticz are str8 haterz when it comez to tha west!! if u read tha inside of jayo felony'z cover tah hiz cd he explain hiz beef wit def jam. n itz for jus that reason, tha label pushin back they release datez of all itz westcoast artistz. n only releasin tha eastcoast albums. tha best thang for tha west tah do, is say fuk all that and do tha shit ourselvez. our own rap magazinez, dont rely on NY rap magazinez tah give good ratings. n if all tha westcoast radio stationz would push these albumz way more. i mean, we aint gotta hate on tha east like they do us. but shit, wha u think they did when tha west was dominatin? they flipped it up by supportin they OWN. exactly wha we need tah do....
