Poems for the People   -  Poems by the People
About the PoemI wrote this poem when I was 11, for my best friend, Eric, who was killed by a log truck when we were both 10 years old. Even though he's gone, he still lives in my heart and my mind. I know I'll see him again someday, so I just have to keep living my life to the fullest.

It was a cold, windy October day,
when you died and left my world so gray.
I can still remember your last screams
and the glistening tears falling from your eyes.
I told you not to ride in the street,
but you never thought it was your end you would meet.
We saw the truck, but it was too late,
I shut my eyes to block out your fate.
I heard a thud, and then your scream,
and I prayed to God it was only a dream.
A few days later, you were put in the ground,
and I became quiet, never making a sound.
Sometimes I can't believe you're really gone,
you always swore you'd never leave me alone.
When I see all them other girls with their guys,
I feel the warm tears slide from my eyes.
If you were here, I know what I'd do,
I'd stay by your side and always be true.
I wish I could have you 'til the end of time,
but even though you're gone, you'll be forever mine.

There was a tall stupid dude in my class in high school and his mother died. His father didn't gave a fuck about him, he was too busy smokin hash somewhere in the world. And what was funny about it was that the dude always used that as an excuse every time he didn't made his homeworks or started shit in the classroom. So the teachers were asking him to bring his parents to school and each time he was yelling out loud MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!!!!! and every body started laughing so hard that shit was mad funny. I mean it wasn't like that the first time but after 15 it was just funny.

Sorry to hear that man i hate death. I don't know what the fuck i'm going to do when my dad passes. Don't really talk about it alot. I debate on wether i should either. Its fucked up how your mood or i should say personality changes completely when you know a loved one is getting worse and worse when they shouldn't be or if theyre too young.

One of my best friends lost him mom to an overdose a couple years ago, I can't imagine how that would feel. It rocked him pretty good but he changed for the better in a lot of respects. At least you have some insight into what it's like, you can help him through it and watch for changes with him. As self-centered as it sounds I felt really awkward talking to my buddy right afterwards; I had no idea what I should say or if I should just kinda leave it alone cause he didn't seem to want to talk about it with anyone beyond that it happened. I did though, and we were probly even better friends after that.
