those last 3 lines sound like they aimed at speakin on Dre. And thats my guess why people been disappointed with dre's beats of late. He has mellowed it out lately with his production, and if this the reason then Dre needs to get back hooked on that Chronic smoke.

he´s said that he doesn´t smoke numerous times and that´s definently the reason why Dre´s beats been good for this long. all of the artists and producers that smokes a shitload of weed lose their focus sooner or later.

the insert and image behind the CD of 2001 tells me different. And you know that cameo of Dre in the Get Your Walk On video where he blows smoke at the camera, wasnt that a clip from Dre's studio around the time they were recording 2001. And filiming The Wash (2001), Up In Smoke tour, etc he must have got bang on it.

Either way, even tho we dont know for sure, Dre;s beats would probably be better with some grade in his system

Pissin On The Throne is right though, Dre said several times he doesn't smoke, the albums were called Chronic cause it was so dope, and everybody else was smoking. Dre is more of a drinker I guess.

 I think what they mean to say is that they don't blaze then go sit up in the studio expecting the marijuana to enlighten them with a sudden burst of creativity. You cannot work while high and enjoy being high,  its difficult and makes getting high pointless.

I've got an old Dre interview from 93' in which Dre said he did smoke weed during the making of the Chronic. He just didn't smoke as much as Snoop and the Dogg Pound.
