Recent Dre Beats...
« on: November 12, 2001, 08:54:51 AM »
I took this Idea from Incognito. I took some of the Dre beats he's done after "2001" to rate and compare them to his "2001" beats. I didn't include shit like "Hate In Yo Eyez" or "Lookin at You" because I haven't heard them enough to judge them. Basically I just put down whatever popped in my head. Everyone take these beats and give them your own rating...Here are mine:

1."The Wash" - 5/5 Wow, Dre brings back the classic G-Funk sound

2."Holla" - 4.75/5 Dre recreates the Futuristic "B-Please" sound. Not so original, but tighter than fuck!

3."Break Ya Neck" - 4.75/5 We're starting to see more funk from Dre than we've seen on "2001."

4."Put It On Me" - 4.5/5 The typical Dre beat, in other words DOPE.

5."Straight Westcoast" - 5/5 Dre using the "2001" sound, this one's a classic beat!

6."Fight Music" - 4.5/5 This one is tight, I love how Dre experiments with different shit, this one has the Rock sound.

7."Family Affair" - 5/5 There's nothing like the Orchestra type beats Dre uses, like the one he used on "X", this ones classic people.

8."West Coast" - 4.75/5 This has that dope, kinda dark feeling mixed with a party feeling, whatever you wanna call it, it's dope.

9."Let Me Blow Ya Mind" - 5/5 Classic, just like the similar beat to "Xxplosive."

10."Nasty Mind" - 4/5  Not the greatest Dre beat, the drums are SICK on this one!

11."Hennesy N Buddah" - 5/5 Classic, I love the guitars!

12."Best of Things" - 5/5 I love this beat, Dope as fuck, especially the bass line on this one, CLASSIC

13."Lay Low" - 4.5/5 Nice Dre beat, kinda sounds like some of his other stuff he's done, otherwise it's dope as fuck

14."X" - 5/5 Classic again?! How does he do this? Damn, he should save his classic beats for himself! I love the orchestra beat he uses, just like "Family Affair"

15."Game Don't Wait Remix" - 4.5/5 Similar beat to "Lay Low"...It's doper than weed, but it still sounds similar to some of his other shit

Basically Dre is getting better at it, as you can see, a Dre beat never fails...I just can't wait till "Hittman" "Oh My God" or "Detox" to see his REAL beats he's saved up for his own Aftermath camp...LoL. I just can't imagine how dope these three will be (If they are released)...

for "Bad Intentions" Mahogony was listed as the MAIN producer, Dre only Co-Produced it...So it's not considered a Dre beat...Please (try to) only rate the songs I have up there...

"Straight Westcoast" - 5/5 (too tight, fits the vocal perfectly)

"Fight Music" - 4/5 (this one really grew on me)

Here are some more post "Dr. Dre 2001" beats that showcase that new sound:

Last Days (Beat @ the end of "Forgot About Dre") - 5/5

Chin Check - 4/5

Hello - 5/5

Kill You - 4.5/5

Who Knew - 3.5/5

Real Slim Shady - 4.5/5

Remember Me? - 4/5

I'm Back  - 4.5/5

B Please II - 4.5/5

True Lies - 4.5/5

What It Iz - 4/5

Aint Nuttin But Music - 4.5/5

Revelation - 3.5/5

Fast Lane - 3.5/5

Sally - 4.5/5

"Family Affair" is Dre's best beat since "2001."

I think even though Dre has the "Co-Producer" credit, he did a big part of the song.  Those fast paced violins are his, just like in "Family Affair" and "Sally."  Then Dre puts in those futuristic effects and other presents when the hook comes around.  Mike Elizondo only plays for Dre and his Aftermath producers too.  No one else uses him.  The only thing I know Dre didn't do are those drums.
