Petey Pablo Calling "Deathrow" a fucked up label???

He aint namin names but he did mention the title of his album as "same eyes on me" so he's gotta be talking about Suge and The Row.  What do ya'll think?

Well the way the Clipse talk about Jive I would guess that he is talking about them. UGK talks about Jive the same way too.

Already seen this, he's talking about Jive rather than D.R.

Obviously a record company like Jive doesn't wanna get involved with Suge and D.R. especially with all of the legal troubles of late, Petey is bound by contract to deliver one more Jive album and I'm pretty sure they don't want that electric guy logo on the back of that CD so that's problably the hold up on that Same Eyez On Me album.

I'm not gonna front, signing with D.R. is a bold move but first of all Petey got with D.R. late '04 way before the legal troubles and secondly he isn't really signed, Suge serves as his manger that's it.

You just answered your own question... I think that Same Eyez On Me album would have done fairly well considering the buzz of that '04 Ciara single Goodies which Petey was featured on, as soon as he got with D.R. however it became a definte no-no for for them fine folks over at Jive.

Yeah and when Suge saw the crossover and overall success a artist like Petey has with a collabo with Ciara, he probably figured that would be a good artist to sign to get the buzz back up for the label. But signing with Tha Row especially for a joint deal with another label is just not going to work. You know Suge is going to want more than a 50/50 split and he will do whatever it takes to get it. If you are going outside to talk to Suge on the balcony of a 18 story building to "Get some fresh air, and talk about the contract" you know you are in trouble.

That's a matter of opinion, people keep on saying he's a Mystikal biter but I don't agree been feeling his stuff way before he got himself aligned with D.R. Check that Like A G track of his, I like that laid back lazy flow.

See Death Row still has that street aura about it. And that is something that alot of artists are looking for. They do not want to be a processed pop star that the labels want to see. And Jive is basically a pop label now. They keep a UGK, Petey Pablo and Clipse in the event they blow up they want a piece of the pie.

Look at Bun B, he kept UGK's buzz going when Pimp C was in jail. Now I would go as far to say they will at least go gold. Rap-A-Lot was trying to sign them for years, but Jive kept them tied up in that contract. If Jay Z says that is one of his favorites groups, it has got to be something. Same situation with Clipse and Pharrell. As far as Petey goes I think it is a combination of the aura of Death Row and wanting to get out of that Jive contract. But he has already been a successful artist so they are not going to let Suge get a chunk of the profit off possibly blowing up on a double album.

So they will not drop the album on the strength he will get tired and leave Suge just to get the album out. But at this point all Death Row has is a memory. So to kick start that label Suge needs a established artist but Jive is not going to allow that to be Petey. Now his buzz is dead and even if he did drop something it would have to be with another established artist to get his buzz going again. Just my 2 cents.

Fair enough... I think it's safe to say that Petey's buzz is dead right now but with a new club/radio friendly single that could change, with or without D.R. On the other hand IF he was allowed to drop that Jive/D.R. double album I'm sure that alone will be enough to get the buzz going again...
