Incubus - Light Grenades
I just started to listen to this one. The sound is definitely more accessible, at least to me. I got tired of the old school basslines that they used on their previous albums. Definitely a breath of fresh air from this band. I'm glad theres some american bands that I can still listen to. Key tracks: mostly in the beginning of the album - Quicksand, Kiss to Send Us Off, Dig (awesome), Anna Molly (Catchy first single), Rogues, Pendulous Threads, Eath To Bella pt.2. Incubus still has a couple more albums in em
Tech N9ne - Everready
I guess i don't need to really review this, after all it's a hip hop forum. Dope album that doesn't quite hit the mark i had set, but has more than enough gems. I love how Tech isn't losing his hunger and this is already like his 5th official album.
The Killers - Sam's Town
The singer's voice sounds a lot older on this one and that just make this that much less teeny-bopper. Not bad at all, and certainly better than i was expecting because i've actually been listening to it, although only a few tracks. My favorite tracks: When We Were Young, Bones, All The Pretty Faces
Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
Didn't really know what i was getting with this release. I mean, nothing Muse makes is ever bad. But with Muse i have expectations higher than pretty much any band other than radiohead. There are definitely more than just a couple great tracks here - Take a Bow (my favorite probably), Map of The Problematique, Assassin, Hoodoo (beautiful ballad), Knights of Cydonia (Cinematic - watch the video), and Glorious (the bonus track). Muse is also amazing in concert, saw these guys a month ago in Barcelona. The fucking energy is insane. Matt Bellamy is a Genius, and I'm conquered by the muse
The Game - Doctor's Adovacte
Once i got over all the references and name dropping of Dr.Dre in EVERY Song i actually started enjoying a few tracks. Surpirisingly the track that i'm feeling the most was produces by the whack ass will.i.am - "Compton." Damn, that old school feel definitely had me nodidng my head and Game's flow is perfect. There's definitely a few more bangers. On "Looking at you" Game definitely sounds like a rapper that brought the West back, which he is more or less. "Remedy" is sick and hell of fucking eastcoast sounding, sounds like it's from 95. "One Night" was one of the tracks i instantly noticed cuz i thought from the title it would be a chick track, which of course it wasn't. The lyrics aren't that bad at all. I think in this track Game proved to me that he's definitely above 50cent's level (I fucking hate 50cent). California Vacation - Oowee, i was hoping to hear something like this on the album. The beat is tight and i was also happy to hear some of my favorite rappers on this track. Nas brings heat and perfectly complements the Game on "Why you Hate the Game." I don't know why they extended the song that much. Quite redundant in my opinion, without the extra 5 minutes the song would have been a 9/10. Overall, Game skipped the sophomore slump and brought us another release with a few real bangers.
The Rapture - Pieces of The People We Love
With this album the Rapture definitely aims for a wider audience, but surprisingly, this didn't detract me from enjoying this album. It's definitely less weird than "Echoes" but it's a lot more fun. When i listen to the previous album, i usually listen to "House of Jealous Lovers," and i was always hoping to hear more songs from them with a similar vibe, and here it is - this album is full of them. "Don Gon Do It" sets the tone of the entire album. you know you're into a high energy experience. "Get Myself Into It" continues the dancerock feel. "Calling Me" Proves that they still don't have a blueprinted formula that they will just mooch off for the rest of eternity. "Live in Sunshine" is an interesting mix of grunge and electronica. Play this album to get into your indie-rock friend's panties
Junior Boys - So This is Goodbye
This one came out of nowhere. My friend recommended it, and i loved it. There's an 80's feel throughout, but on a modern cosmopolitan loungy feel. This is not for everyone though. I can see myself highly disliking this record 5 years ago. Key Tracks - "The Equalizer", "So This is Goodbye (Very moody track, not for country folk), "In The Morning", and "Count Souveniers". Also get "Teach me How to Fight from 2004's "Last Exit." Look at me, i sound like i'm advertising the shit.
Well that's not all i've been listening to, but i'm just not down for writing anymore. Recommend me good music
