Who is this guy?

His name is Daniel Johnston. He suffers from a extreme bipolar disorder. Hes been recording music for over 30 years now but now alot more people are recognizing him now that there is a documentary out now on him. It got rave reviews from critics and won the Sundance Film Festival Directors Award in 2005.

His bipolar disorder is so bad he frequently admitted to a hospital.

He is obsessed with strange things like Captain America, Casper The Ghost, Mountain Dew, etc.

He is also very religous and suffers from religious preoccupation. His art and music contains many things having to do with christianity.

His admission to a mental hospital one time was blamed by when he took the keys of his fathers airplane out of the ignition in mid air and throwing them out the window. Luckily his father crash landed the plane without any harm done to them.


If you listen to his music its pretty fucking creepy but you can definetly feel where hes coming from.

He is often compared to Beach Boys frontman Brian Wilson.

Back On topic, How many other people with a mental disorder as extreme as he has can write songs and have them sung by Eddie Vedder, David Bowie, Beck, etc.? Thats what makes everything he does special.
