He's worth way more than 6-7million per, it would have been insane for him to sign that deal.  He can easily make double of that later before the 2008 season.  It's really a slap to the face to Matsuzaka that the offer was 6-7 million per.

i dont care how good his stats are in japan or what he did in exhibition games... he has never throw a pitch in major league baseball.  And i heard the sox were offering 7-8 million ?

It's not difficult to measure the talent level in Japan.  If you look at what Meche, Lilly, Padilla and a few others got this season...he should get about 15-16, and that could be a bargain.

and not too many of them have had long term sucess.  Minus Ichiro and Hideki Matsui.  And even tho matsui puts up great numbers in the states it is a large fall off from what he put up in japan.  Also the only pitchers that really have had sucess in the states are relivers.  Nomo had that great rookie season. And then everyone realized he was tipping his pitches and after that he was never the same.
