snoop and kurupt
« on: December 19, 2006, 04:44:03 PM »

from 2004 domino interview with dubcc:

Domino: Yea I used to have a group called perfection and basically we was the muthafuckaz out the beach that kinda floated throughout all the showcases and management thats poppin shit now. We had umm this particular asscount showcase which was located at the rocks theatre anyway after the shit is over we outside chillin and muthafucka walked up to me talkin bout he wanna freestyle.
He wanna battle me I aint no battler I can let you know, I dont do that shit but when it comes to paper im the tightest muthafucka in the town with the pen. So my nigga snoop was the hottest muthafucka that I had ever knew. So I let the dogg loose he started gettin on his ass real early like right at the dribble but Kurupt came and spit some shit that shut the crowd down. You gotto let that be known man this shit was like big! Two muthafuckaz in their caliber. They went on for like 12 rounds. The crowd was like it's a draw and thats the first time I ever heared the crowd was like its a draw because theres always a winner and a looser in the streets. But they said this shit was a draw and thats the begining to that Kurupt and Snoop shit hottest muthafuckaz on the west.

END QUOTE

I heard a different version that more corroborates with what Crooked I said about Suge having Crooked battle dudes that wanted to get a deal. I heard Dre told Kurupt that if he could eat Snoop that he would get a deal and that if he didn't, a bunch of death row peeps would toss him in the pool of the house they were havin' the party at and that Kurupt ate 'em and it was respect since.

? I also heard the version I just told is from Ronin Ro's have gun will travel. I just ordered the book the other day as I haven't read it yet but I'll come back to this and I'm sure plenty more once I've read it. anyone know anything about this for sure?

LMAO. On a comedic level, it's hilarious that you responded with such a succinct response when based on your decour (all your DR stuff) you obviously know a SHITload about what you're speaking on.

It's like walking up from ground zero and being like "On the real, y'all shouldn't be flyin' today."

No. Even without "all my DR stuff" I'd be saying the same thing.

It wasn't an insult man, I was just saying you're saying an awful little given the fact that you probably know an awful lot about that shit.

That is what is missing from rap these days. Cats are not earning they keep anymore. It is kinda like what Terrance Martin said in a interview with Styles. "You might be tight in your posse but batlle other cats". Don't just let your crew pump you up to be the best and that is it. Test your skills, improve on your craft. Kurupt was not only killing mc's in Cali, he was NATIONWIDE with his. Battling rappers at the Tunnel in NY just to get in. Nowadays it's like if you are such as such's cousin that means you have a deal. WTF? Snoop and Kurupt earned they shit.

Word.

Provokes a thought though, Crooked I was saying suge had him do that shit in recent times, like in the last several years...and I suppose it shows....Death Row has ALWAYS had at least a cat or two with real talent, they just didn't get those friggin' albums out.

i'm assuming the tunnel is some kind of hip hop club in nyc?

Yeah they had alot of cypher battles out there and concerts. Funkmaster Flex would spin there all the time. Kurupt was saying in a interview during the time Dogg Food was out, they were in NY and were trying to get in to the Tunnel for a concert. Snoop was not there yet and they would not let the crew in and he had to battle his way in. I don't not know if this is the infamous "the night I served 2000 mc's" night or not but he got in and the DPGC got mad love after they did a concert there. He said cats would clown him about his chucks and khakis but he still was killing them.

Kurupt was untouchable to me for so long and yeah he did fall off but he is and always has been my favorite Dogg Pound member. Really the perfect blend back then of east and west. Style- west coast, rhyming and battling- east coast. Snoop did alright for himself too  ;D.

Yeah, I remember reading this interview a few years ago....

Thats why they have earned their keep..

But I agree with you, This is the type of shit hip-hop is missing. You don't hear none of these stories no more!

In one of my 5 interviews with Kurupt, he spoke about this... It was a battle that went down at The Roxy in Hollywood. It ended in a tie, but that battle is what got him into the Dogg Pound...
