Future of Aftermath - Thread 3 - Eminem
« on: October 29, 2001, 06:27:22 PM »
Its time to drop some knowledge about the white boy a lot of you love to hate. my dogg eminem is very busy these days.  he’s currently shooting his major studio acting debut, his semi-autographical movie due out next year. and get this, his costar is Britney!!! (murphy that is).  em is coming off his acting debut cameo in The Wash and releasing d12’s underrated platinum album. em has done some work on his third Aftermath release, but em and dre have not done much together lately. that will change next year as Em prepares his solo album and the soundtrack to his movie. dre will put in work on both. I’m sure that Eminems next solo album will again sell well, but it will also bring him to a very important crossroads. Is Em gonna take a step backwards(back to gay bashing, teen pop dissin, useless beef starting and responding, wife killing, drug using psychpath shit and other tired topics)? Or is Em gonna take a step forward (more introspective, personal, emotional, powerful storytelling, and dare i say a little more positivity) and become the artist he is capable of being? the early recordings from a few months ago with us in LA were very encouraging. I know ems been working in detroit with his detroit producers but i haven’t heard those results yet. hate him as much as you want but he is a great lyricist, very intelligent and extremely talented.
Em has the opportunity to have a similar impact and influence Pac had.  so far he’s blown the opportunity, but whether you like him or not if you can’t see that he has a chance for that type of impact you ain’t seeing straight.
can em straighten himself out as an artist? does he even want to? i can’t answer that. as friends and teammates we can only advise, suggest and give constructive criticism. the rest is up to Marshall. In life there are NO EXCUSES and in the end every man is responsible for his own life, actions and decisions. but no matter what em is my dogg and i got his back like he got mine. Em’s career and life is at a crossroads and I really hope that em takes the right step forward. but thats up to him. Em will always be edgy, dark, controversial, outspoken, sarcastic and angry. but he can use those traits in a way that will still set him apart from everybody else, but in a different way than they have up to this point.  I fully expect that em’s third aftemath release will his best and most important album ever. the pressure’s on. Can Em deliver? well since I fully expect to see both Em’s solo album and  soundtrack (as well as appearances on Man vs. machine and Detox) come out next year you’re gonna find out soon. a storm is brewing so keep your eyes and ears on the sky.
next up ....................Rakim.

I'm awaiting the Rakim post.  hiphopsite.com listed Rakim's "Oh my god" album as the #1 reason to live during 2001.

Yeah, Em is in The Wash...pretty cool.  I think 'Crossroads' would be a perfect title for Em's next solo LP.
