Future of Aftermath - Thread #2 - Hittman
« on: October 29, 2001, 06:16:25 PM »
the plan is to release hittman’s debut album next year. unlike ben ballers wonderful enthusiasm, i have tried to keep on an even keel and stay hopeful, yet realistic. and i have continued to remain a bit skeptical because things haven’t looked good for a long time. i  have bounced around a few times in my opinion whether the project would come out because the project has bounced all over the place. at first 2000 was the year. then it was off. then it was on again and 2001 was the year. then it was off again. now its looking more and more like 2002 is THE YEAR. (knock on wood and cross your fingers). a few people have accused me of being vague about hittman’s album so i could cover my ass no matter if it got released or not. my response to that is - If dre or hitt didn’t know if and when it was coming out (and still aren’t sure), how the fuck would I know?  and that is still my answer. Considering what has gone on the last few years with this project until Hittman’s album gets pressed and hits the stores i will not feel confident in telling you that it is coming out.
we all know that hitt is very talented. but in this business talent is only one factor, and sometimes not even a factor(britney or nsync are examples). work ethic, charisma, star power, appearance, supporters, luck and other factors unfortunately often dictate success of an artist more than talent. thousands of talented people like Hitt sometimes get lost in the shuffle or forgotten without ever releasing an album.
there are some rumours that work on Hitt’s album hasn’t even begun. that is untrue. dre has a medium number of
Hitt tracks (a few of them true bangers) and hitt has recorded a lot of songs with other producers.  why has it not been released yet? for a long time the question has not been quantity its been quality. dre is not going to release an album if there are not enough quality tracks to narrow down to a consistently dope album that would warrant releasing and spending money on manufacturing and marketing an album (and marketing is where univeral/interscope have more influence). dre hasn’t worked on it as much as he’d like and a lot of the other stuff with other outside producers has been pretty mediocre. the flashes were there, but for a long time it just hadn’t meshed like hoped. so Hittman was in a tough spot (and still is). but he had to and still has to step it up. a young cat like Knocturnal has really stepped it up since “2001” and thats why dre’s putting in the time and effort to work with him. to be honest Knoc has the charisma and star power that Hittman doesn’t. that’s not a knock on brian at all. its more of a compliment to knoc. but lack of charisma and other intangibles is a big factor in the struggle for hittman to get released. dre has never wavered in his confidence in hitt. dre wants Hitt in aftermath’s future and he wants to release hitt’s album. but dre will not release Hittman’s album until its good enough to live up to expectations. and for a long time the album has not been good enough to release. it  hasn’t been up to the very high Aftermath standards or YOUR expectations. to make up for hitts lack of charisma and other intangibles the quality of the album has got to be extremely high before it gets released. I hope this gives you some faith. at the same time, however i urge you to not get too hyped up yet. NO MATTER WHAT YOU HEAR there is still a lot of work to be done. and right now there is a lot of work to do before it warrants a release. I am confident Hitts album will drop but i also have to remain realistic.there have been times like this where i just knew hitts album was coming out and
then the next week things got gloomy and i just knew it wasn’t gonna come out. i know my answer is not very
definitive, but i promised to be honest with you and thats what i’m doing. i’ve never allowed myself to make shit up that would get your hopes up. and as long as i am here i will not change. so if you dont like my answers your just gonna have to keep doubting or discrediting what i say. i wanted to give you one final update of the album and give you insights and a better understanding of the process. next up ..................Eminem.

Yeah, I Agree About Hitt, His Charisma Isn't Up There, LOL... No Biggie, I'm Sure He'll Work On It.  His Sampler That Leaked Wasn't very Good At All.  He Reminds Me Of Mr. Short Khop, HAS Talent, But Just Isn't Quite There.

Hittman's situation seems to remind me of Royce 5'9". first his albums on, then its off, then its being released, then pushed back a year, then they start from scratch.. then its out tomorrow, then its got a 12 year push back date.. etc.. if they dont release it sometime soon, people will give up waiting & not bother with it at all, with the amount of times things either get put on hold, or pushed back or whatever, the topic material is years old & they need somethin new.

tight info tho, same with the Eminem one & Truth Hurts.. but im waiting on that Rakim info ;)

I read that Battlecat worked with Hittman a lot and pumped out a lot of songs and Dre wasn't feelin them.  Dre then told BC to go back in their with Hitt.  Is this one of the reasons the project is slowing down?

*Crossing ALL his fingers & bangalangin' tha hell outta his wooden desk!*  ;D

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

that's cool, a hittman cd would be tight but not near the top of my 'wants' list, peace.
