George Karl upset about the lenght of Garnett's suspension

Very understandable...

DENVER (AP) -- Nuggets coach George Karl did the math and it didn't add up: Denver star Carmelo Anthony drew a 15-game suspension for his fight, Minnesota's Kevin Garnett got a one-game penalty for another brawl.

"Obviously, if you land the punch it's 14 games," Karl said Monday. "Throwing one is one (game) and hitting (someone) is 14. That's the equation I read. I'm just a simple guy. I couldn't pass calculus."

Anthony was set to return Monday night when Memphis visited Denver. He had been out since throwing a punch during a wild brawl against the New York Knicks on Dec. 16.

"Being away from (basketball), it really made me think about how much I appreciate it," Anthony said. "I wish I could take that punch back."

Anthony hit Knicks guard Mardy Collins, who had collared J.R. Smith on the way to the basket. In all, 10 players were ejected and seven were suspended.

Garnett, a perennial All-Star, sat out Sunday night's game against Phoenix. He was suspended after throwing a punch at Detroit's Antonio McDyess on Friday night.

When McDyess knocked down Minnesota's Mark Madsen with a forearm shove, Garnett threw the ball at the Pistons player. McDyess charged with his fists ready and Garnett took a swipe at him. Those actions, however, did not prompt a bigger brawl.

"I just thought it was kind of unique that everything that J.R. and Melo were blamed for, Kevin Garnett did in the same incident," Karl said. "He escalated a fight, he threw a punch, he threw a ball and gets one game. It was kind of a unique interpretation. I know it's a hard job, but no, it doesn't feel like it was a fair evaluation."

Anthony met with NBA commissioner David Stern last week to talk about the fight at Madison Square Garden and said it went well.

"He explained a lot of things and made more things clearer to me," Anthony said. "He got a chance to talk, I got a chance to talk and hopefully we're both on the same page. It wasn't so much of a message, it was just a generic conversation just to get everybody back on track."

I would be upset too.  KG started that fight (if thats what you call it), threw a gay lil punch (same as Melo), and ran away.  KG gets 1 game, and Melo gets 15?   Whats that smell?

Bullshit.

There has been too many suspensions this season in general. People get into fights, especially testosterone filled competitive athletes. I think it has to do with the fact that Garnett is one of the league's "good guys", which is dumb. 15 games for one punch is bullshit to begin with. The NBA overstepped their authority suspending Melo for that long.

as much as i LIKE melo and as much as i DISLIKE garnett, i think it was pretty fair, melo actually hit dude and kinda side busted his ass, while garnett just threw the ball like a bitch and threw a fag hand his way.....nothing worth more than 1 game.  even though i don't agree with the 15 games for melo, i don't think karl should be getting that pissed.

What Garnett did was very lousy. Like a child. Dude didn't even attempt to hit him, it was more of a "please back off and dont hurt me big guy" - move with this fist.

Garnett still threw a punch tho. His punishment shouldn't be lighter because McDyess was smart enough to step back his fist.

C'mon, that's nowhere near 15 game material.

It was a "please don't hurt me, go away" sort of punch.

Yeah i agree. I've seen the video and it looks like a 1 game suspension to me too. But McDyess had to be ejected for that shit he did. He had no reasons to do that shit. KG was just trying to protect a teammate.

If it was Kobe, he woulda got like 30 games because the media and the NBA doesnt like him anymore.  They dont give him the special treatment like Wade and KG.  Kobe is the man!

that shit should of been at least a 5 game suspension just for the intent of fighting at least if Stern really wanted to stop all this bullshit.

The NBA isn't even bad when it comes to fighting. People just act like that because most NBA players are black. Nobody says anything when people get almost crippled in soccer (with intend) or when they fight every day in hockey.
