State of the game & why I haven't been postingmuch
« on: October 19, 2001, 09:01:56 AM »
Hi.

Some of you guys may remember me, engies, from the old Dre Forum & when this forum first started i was here too.

I used to talk to alot of you guys all the time, like Psycreate aka Overseer aka BattleCat, BigJakeDoggyDogg, DOCB, Trauma & whole other bunch of cats I have forgotten to name.

I don't post here much anymore guys, sorry for that, but the reason is that I am very busy & also, what is there to talk about, I mean, the Rap game has been pretty shit for the last few years.

Because I live in Australia & dont stay on downloading heaps of Rap albums like i used to, i rarely hear any of the new shit, & when i do hear it, its sub-par to the music that came out in the past.

Remember days when Rap was good, when Dr.Dre was still making that G-Funk for your trunk, When Snoop Dogg was called Snoop Doggy Dogg, ripping the mic & flipping his tongue like no other, when Kurupt wasnt making childish R&B songs like "Its Over", When RZA wasn't being a hypocrite & turning rap into techno tronics with Bobby Digital.

So much has changed for the worst in the game. There is still some good albums & rappers out there today. I mean, 2001 was a really great album, Ghostface's Supreme Clientele was classic, Daz's R.A.W. is a classic for straight gangsta beat heads like me & Eminem's first 2 cd's were nice, though tired.

But you have idiots like Nelly, DMX, Ja Rule & all these otehr commercial rappers who cant rap topping the charts & teeny boppers listening to hip hop for the wrong reasons.

Remember back in the day, when Dr. Dre, Snoop, Ice Cube, Warren G & Tha Dogg Pound where topping the charts without getting commercial, still keeping the street attached to there music, when Wu-Tang was releasing great music on almost anything they touched (everything until Forever was great), & selling a reasonable amount as well.

Now these artists have had to get down with RNB acts & do shit for the teeny boppers to get there sales.

Face it, rap has been sucking for a while.

I've heard the Wash, & while it was a good song, not nearly as great as alot of you made out, even though Snoop showed FLASHES of the old Snoop I knew & loved. It got tired easy on my ears.

Bad Intentions & Put It On Me were pretty good as well, Cops is just fricken weird.

Thats something else i've noticed about the rap game, is that alot of the new stuff gets tired easily. I'll listen to a new cd for a while & it gets borring, whereas you grab a cd from the early-mid 1990's, like Doggystyle, Chronic, Dogg Food, 36 Chambers, Infamous, Regulate, etc, etc, & you can bump them for alot longer without getting bored of them.

I just thought I'd give a little rant on why I havent been posting much, because nothing in rap really is interesting anymore.

Only a few albums i can say have been GREAT over the last few years, a lot of OK albums & some shit house ones, & alot of albums that were hyped up & then they let you down when you listened to them.

Of course I may have left out a few albums, well, i just got home from the bar so of course i'm kinda fucked up.

GREAT ALBUMS RELEASED SINCE OCTOBER 1999
Dr.Dre-2001
Ghostface Killah-Supreme Clientele
Daz Dillinger-R.A.W.
Soopafly-Dat Whoopty Whoop
Pharoahe Monch-Internal Affairs
Mos Def-Black On Both Sides

GOOD ALBUMS RELEASED SINCE OCTOBER 1999
Jay-Z-The Blueprint
Jay-Z presents Roc-A-Fella-The Dynasty
Xzibit-Restless LP (It grew on me, you don't like it, bite me, even though it was a let down & not as good as his first cd)
D.P.G.-Dillinger & Young Gotti (Got old fast)
RZA-(New Bobby Digital cd, too drunk right now to remember its title)
Eminem-Marshall Mathers LP (Got old, mainly coz every fuckin teeny bopper played it to the point it got so annoying I had to grab the Boppers & throw them out the window, ohh, along with the cd)
Tash-Rap Life (Solid, Tash is a lyrical genius)
Snoop Dogg Presents...-Tha Eastsidaz
Bad Azz-Personal Business

AVERAGE ALBUMS RELEASED SINCE OCTOBER 1999
Jay-Z-Volume 3
Daz Dillinger & JT Tha Bigga Figga-Game 4 Sale
Daz Dillinger & JT Tha Bigga Figga-Long Beach 2 Fillmoe
Warren G-I Wan't It All
Tha Dogg Pound-2002 (Sucked a bit because its recycled music basically)
Prodigy-H.N.I.C. (Not Nearly as good as the other Mobb cd's out, but some nice solid cuts on there)
Snoop Dogg-Tha Last Meal (Grew on me, but very dissapointing, the beats save the album, Snoops flow sucks)
Wu-Tang Clan-The W (Let down, fairly solid though)
D-12-Devil's Night (Almost good, but repeatative & the same old things we have heard before)
Tha Eastsidaz-Deuces & Trays (Liked alot when first heard it, got TIRED VERY VERY QUICKLY)
Doggy'z Angel'z-(Ahh FUCK I FORGOT THE NAME OF THAT ONE AS WELL, AHAHAHHAH)

ALBUMS RELEASED SINCE OCTOBER 1999 THAT LET YOU DOWN BIG TIME
Wu-Tang Clan-The W (After hearing some of the songs off the Wu Game, that Shaolin Worldwide song & Ghostface's, I thought this album would have got Wu back on track. Unfortunately, it didn't & it fucking sucked)
Snoop Dogg-Tha Last Meal (It wasn't as much of a let down because I expected it, I thought Snoop was really gonna rhyme good on this one, of course he fucked it up so I had to get the next door neighbors god damn Fish Tank with little gold fish in it & throw it out of the car window while the Driving Instructor wasn't looking)
Xzibit-Restless LP (After a great first cd, a good 2nd cd, i thought he was gonna rule the game & make a classic, considering how much times the cd was pushed back. Instead you just get a good cd which is borderline average & takes time to grow on you)
Prodigy-H.N.I.C. (One of the best lyricsts had been ripping the spotlight with his work on the Mobb Deep cd's & Quiet Storm (the original is better than the remix IMO) banging in my cd all the time, i thought this cd would be great. Instead it was borderline average)

I understand SugeFight is easy to confuse with SugeRape..SURE.  Anyways-im really tired of 13 year old kids starting shit and not focusing on the music aspect of the boards.  Damn it--  Anyways-I wasnt dissing him, I just said I hope he finds a form of music he enjoys.  SugeRape?  Sunshine-Thats fucking uncalled for.  I get the last laugh again. Hi guys. Its just i was tired last night & I had forgotten heaps of yall & I was drunk so forgive me if i forgot your names

I must try & get AOL again, I had reformated & i rarely have time anymore so i didnt think of downloading AIM again but i will soon guys

I have just been lurking on here a couple of times a week to keep informed on the rap game.

I love Rap, but just the Old stuff is so much better than the new stuff, IMO

I like other kinds of music too, basically everything except commercial pop (Britney, N Sync) & SOME RNB (i feel they over do it alot in there songs & it pisses me off)

I've been doing my VCE, finishing in 2 weeks, also been busy you know, goin out, hanging with friends, stuff like dat.

Nice seeing yall again

Peace

SugeFight; This is like the PM's you sent trying to upset me, LoL. Like then, I ain't offended by disses aimed at me. But you're still an asswad for not even realizing the situation. And I don't try to "get the last laugh". That's for people who claim they're 20 something black guys, when they're really like 14 year old white people from Hicksville, USA.

On point: I agree with Engies, but now the kinda stuff that stands up to early 90s standards don't sell well, because they're relatively underground or unknown; Sticky Fingaz and Fredro Starr, Mac Mall, Warren(as always), etc... So, I tend to disagree in that respect. The material IS there, it's just it's not heard enough.
