THE REASON WHY THE SOUTH IS ON TOP AND NOT THE WEST or EAST

The reason is because the South has its own sound right now.  U can easily tell when its a south song just by listening to the beat.  They use the 808's and that bass and its their own sound.  Its not just one artist using that sound.   Its everybody from the south that has that sound.

The west use to have their own sound.  Before they used those "worms" and those dope basslines. 
The west has lost its sound.  Everybody is doing their own thing.  No album has a certain feel to it.  When u listen to new ice cube "laugh now cry later" it doesnt have a sound.  Its all over the place.  Itll have a couple westcoast beats a bunch of eastcoast beats and some south beats.  So it doesnt have a certain feel to it.  Same wit most westcoast artists today.

Im not even talking about bringing back those "worms" im just saying that we dont have that certain feel no more.
Before when u picked up a Dre or a Snoop dogg album they use to have a certain sound all thoughout the cd.  Not no more on westcoast albums.

But when you critisise that the westcoast doesn't have a own sound no more, you have to ask youself the question why.
You argued with Cube's album, but why you think artists like Snoop and Cube do that? Because they have to. The old westcoast sound is played out, and when you are a megastar like Snoop you have to unite more sounds. If you look at succesfull albums these days, nobody has an own sound. Today, artists don't go to the studio and put an album together, they're just buyin' some beats from different producers. This is why no album has one sound throughout the album.
I also think that the wc needs a new sound, but that's on the "new west" artists right now. I don't blame vets like WC, Warren G or DPG for still usin' that old sound. They're just doin' they're thang. I also don't blame Snoop and Cube for tryin' to sell albums on the one hand and to make music on the other.
In fact, it's just the damn music industry who decides. People will always follow them. Right now, the music industry doesn't want to give the wc a chance.
It's on the new Westcoast artists to create something new, not on Cube or Snoop.

a homie i think i pretty much agree with you, especially since u emphasized not bringing back the old sound, because it aint about bringing back nothing. when you hear some southern hip hop or east coast hip hop, even though any given artist may try out different sounds in the interest of being more "universal", overall they still have a sound to them. some of it lies in the production and sonic aspect and some of it lies in the overall swagger of the artist themselves. we've been lost out here for so long that we dont have a sound anymore, we know that the old sound aint working but we dont know where to go with it for the future, so the west coast doesnt have a sound right now. my personal feeling is that our sound has traditionally been funk-based (NOT G-FUNK, JUST FUNK) so i think that wherever we take it in the future should be a new evolution of funk, thats what were best at, thats whats in our blood, and trying to come out with this "universal sound" aint gonna cut it because we wont sound natural doing it until we've established our own defining sound.

But, even if the west coast gets there "Own sound" back it wont make a difference i dont think, its not gonna change whose buying the cd's, and more people wanna hear "tight" beats that they can dance and party too and bump loud in there car..sad but true

exactly. The west coast g funk was the party music of the 90's, it's the same thing then as now. Go back to '95 and try playing Illmatic or Cuban Linx when you have chicks in the car and see the reaction you get. Then play Doggystyle and see the reaction you get.
