I will make my decision once ive heard the big squeeze.

I dont think stat is an awful lyricist, its more his voice that annoys me.

The point is snoop doesnt need to have stat write for him, or anybody for that matter. Snoops hottest tracks were written by himself so he doesnt need anybody penning shit for him!
i thought him and the D.O.C. pretty much cowrote Doggystyle?

Thats what theyre saying but who knows what exactly went down, with all those deathrow albums everybody was up in that studio contributing so much some didnt get credited so its hard to know who wrote what or who produced what or how much. I know i asked meech a few times about some of the hottest tracks and verses snoop spit back during the last meal and he confirmed snoop wrote those himself so theres no doubt he can write and his freestyle game has always been ahead of the pack!

The problem with it is just as much the producers, for example as much as people say "kurupt spit weak rhymes, bitch bitch bitch etc", u have to realize a producer was there in the studio and let him get away with that! so he is as much to blame as kurupt!

^yep, thatīs why Dreīs the greatest of all time when it comes to hip hop. thereīs dudes out there that got beats just as good as his if not better. and them cats are beatmakets and Dreīs a true producer, and thatīs why iīd rather hear Snoop working with him instead of these weak producers he been using. now iīm all for dudes giving new guys a chance if their actually worth the chance but if their not up to par then fuck working with them.

True and Dre let him say rhymes like that on XXXplosive. I think producers are afraid for the most part to say the rhymes are not working and vice versa about rappers and beats. Dre really don't need anyone, his track record speaks for itself so if he is not feeling something it sticks more in the artists mind then if Joe the Producer says something. But beats are really on whoever is listening to them. If the artists are happy with them, so be it. Rappers also pick the beats out so they are to blame as well if they are wack, that is what they wanted.

The thing is, Snoop wont listen to you if you aint Dr.Dre or someone on the same level, so maybe thats why he may sound weak on his producers beat, because in my opinion his new producers doesnt suck, they are Talented but probably unable to tell Snoop how to flow on a song or tell him if some lyrics are hot or not

yeah you could see that in the part 3 of the interview when nima said people were dissapointed LAX. Snoop started getting all defensive and basically said it dont matter what the fans think.

I think snoop just sees producing as an extra cheque but i could be wrong who knows

yeah i mean throughout the years he done almost anything possible to get some scrilla, its funny nobody said this back in 96 when he produced 1 or 2 tracks on tha doggfather, but yeah he worked together with LT on that one, maybe he could make dope beats together with soopafly  8)

in 96 snoop wasn't going around yellin 'i'm niggarachi muthafuckaz!' like he is now, he's co produced shit for years.

The point is snoop doesnt need to have stat write for him, or anybody for that matter. Snoops hottest tracks were written by himself so he doesnt need anybody penning shit for him!

dre doesn't care about lyrics from his rappers, he's all about delivery. there's a few eminem interviews where he talks about dre encouraging him to simplify his lyrics but accentuate his voice more (as evidenced by eminem's progression throughout his albums. his lyrics on infinite and SS LP/EP are a bit ahead of lyrics on subsequent albums but his delivery keeps getting better and better. that's why the result was shit like evil deeds as opposed to role model. bishop has said dre encourages him to be more universal in his sound rather than lyrical for backpackers.

That said, I think Kurupt delivered sonically on XXplosive so the lyrics in such a context were irrelevant more or less. Whereas on a song like 'what cha about' on DPG 2002 for example is made or broken by Kurupt spitting hard or not spitting on a track.

if they canīt coach artists than they aint producers. thatīs the difference between an actual producer and a beatmaker, and if they canīt coach an artist then they need to have someone on their team that can.
