this is an excerpt from the kevin garnett interview in the latest dime magazine.

Dime: There have been several times over the past few years where you've lobbied in the press for the Timberwolves management to get you more help. Even this morning, the Minnesota papers were all reacting to your latest public plea. What does that do to the dynamic of the locker room?

KG: My guys on my team will fight for me man. That's all you can ask for. At the end of the day that's all you want. I mean, you know if you got, if you, if you roll with four nerds and they're into bio labs, chemistry, formulas, atoms and shit like that, but they're also just real good people, they may be nerds but you them muthafuckers will fight for you. That's a true fuckin friend, man. And you're even more of a friend knowing that this is just who he is, dog. I don't give a fuck if you're a nerd, you know what I mean? I can learn from him. We're totally different people, and they're nerds! But OK. cool. He may be a nerd, but he's cool. He's funnier than a muthafucker. And at the end of the day, if we in a bar somewhere or we in an alley and it's going down, he got me. That's what you want, man. That's what I have. IS there really dramatic talent here? Nah, but they'll grind, they'll fight for you, they'll die. That's what you want, man. If I'm in the trenches, I gotta be able to know that I trust him. He's gonna grind with me. And that's what I got. Now, you know, is it enough to get past Point A? That's where the question mark comes in.
But I love my team, I love my teammates, 'cause they'll die for me, they'll grind for me. They'll do everything I ask them to because they know it's vice versa. And that's why you don't hear me come into meetings blasting. Man, that ain't my speed. I know what I can get out of these guys. Now if it's one or two guys who ain't feeling me or what the team is doing? Then obviously you need to get rid of that. It's a cancer, you know?
But we see the formulas to win, man: You got Shaq and Kobe. You got Shaq and Wade. You got Michael and Scottie. You got Dream, Sam Cassell, Robert Horry, Clyde Drexler. You got, you know, you got pieces. And the League is so big and diluted now that talent is just spread around. You look at Dallas' team. They have Dirk, and some solid pieces that have been together. You look at San Antonio when they won. They had pieces that had been toghether. You have pieces together.
There's no way you let Sam Cassell and Spree leave outta here.
There's no way you let Sam Cassell and Spree leave outta here.
There's no way you break that team up. There's no way. There's no way. So, when I speak on it, I speak the truth. It may not be what everybody wants to hear, but it is what it is. There's no way you make some of the moves you made in the last couple (shakes his head)(pause)
...there's no way.
We're knocking at the door of the Finals and all of a sudden, you know, ...we're here... We let Flip go? C'mon, you don't.
You just don't, you know?

Dime: It's been a few years since Sam and Spree were here, but you still get fired up like it just went down.

KG: You know what, man? I can only control so much. And I always tell myself before every game, "Do what you do. Control what you control."
Can't change a man. Can't change a system. You're not the owner, you know?

i hope destiny can be fulfilled.

LoL, dude is gonna kill himself in a couple years from what it looks like. Nice people finish last, best example: Garnett. Too loyal to be successful.
Cause I don't care where I belong no more
What we share or not I will ignore
And I won't waste my time fitting in
Cause I don't think contrast is a sin
No, it's not a sin

True. But he chose to take a paycut in 2003 for the T-Wolves. He could be making a lot more if he didn't.

yep. and he mite be taking one of the biggest paycuts of all-time if he chooses to opt out of his t-wolves contract and sign to a team he wants to be on for MLE.

KG showed loyalty through the years for his team and the staff has never been able (outside 04) to give him a shot to win... he needs to leave..
