BOTH!... The new rappaz fuck up the industry...i cant remember the last time i purchase a rap cd or download the whole album online..
they need to come with something fresh!..all the bling bling and fancy cars aint working again..they brain washing the kids with that bullshit..its ok not to wear flashy jewelry or drive a fancy car!

hip hop is not new more.  same sound, same lyrics constanlty dominant the "hip hop" stations.

disco killed the funk ( :'() = pdidy, j. dupri killed hip hop.

i think the defect is from the lyrics not the actual music
producers been comin up with fresh shit allt he time
rappers stopped growing since.... i dunno about 98 when the last new thing came out was the bling bling
kanye def was the last rapper to bring sort of a new flavour to the table
lupe tried... failed miserably

Hip Hop has evaporated. Some of the elements are still around but it's no loner coalesced into a single unit.. Rap killed it..

You can look at hip hop like a club or a disco.  It only takes a few hard headed bastards to ruin it.  Negativity spreads from a few to many.  Now nothing is creative or left to the imagination.  The radio killed it but some cats are still putting it down.

I wouldn't say it's dead...it's just going through a fucked up phase. 98% of the shit nowadays is garbage, I'm sure at some point there will be at least some sort of shift in the game. Hopefully.
