DJ Premier in LA this week to consult with Dr.Dre about Detox

consult, to me, says, consult. He may want a really intelligent street hip hop perspective on the work he's doing. he probably respects primo and wants his opinion.

furthermore, Dre buying beats from other people is what he's always done...he is a beatmaker but he's more of a producer, he takes someone elses beat and adds, takes, tweaks it and it's a dre production even if it's someone elses beat. i'm down.

and yeah, more than half of 2001 and arguably The Chronic were not produced solely by dre either.

I am happy this consultation is happening even if Primo doesn't actually produce anything on detox. his input can be nothing but good.


furthermore, despite the disparity, I'm sure dre would have no problem making a beat with primo if they so chose. people like to say dre is limited, but dre and primo are both amazing artists, I don't think the past work of either of them would make them doing work now/future hard. Do I think it's unlikely they will co produce? yeah, do I wish they would? yeah, it'd be dope.

I think dre should put nas on detox, they've been down for too long for nas not to be on a dre record. I'd like to hear nas, kurupt and Bishop Lamont on a dre produced track together...would be sick.

man all dre need 2 fuck wit iz warren, sir jinx, hi tek, melman, yella, and maybe dj quik, buddah, or rza, but mainly produce that muthafucka by himself.  now i aint sayin dre and premo wouldnt b crazy but not 4 detox, more like an aftermath project (50 or Bishop).  i say have snoop, em, dpg, big pimpin (yessir), warren, nate, and nwa (with eazy), and maybe game too many of this and that would sound more like a mixtape/compilation than an album... I'd rather hear tha Doctor spit 48's than EVERYBODY n tha game add they two cents

their catalogs are both impressive but Dre sound has involved through his carreer , when Primo one , not that much... I mean if u listen the Chronic and 2001 sounds, if you didn't follow the news, you can't say Dre is behind 2001... whereas you can stop listening rap in 95 and then heard the "Classic" beat nowadays and still guess it's Primo... of course heads who prefer that grimey hip hop sound will prefer Primo.. Plus you can't really compare Dre to Primo, it's like comparing Kareem and MJ...

Yeah I can follow you on that. I just find it a little hard to see a Dre beat co-produced by Premo, because of the different styles.

And in my own opinion i don't think it will be hot, since it's been a while since i heard a dope dre beat, "Imagine" was pretty dope, but before that, I can't really remember when there were a dope dre beat before that..

For some reason.....in rap, there have been more than a few times when epic producers would hook up, but have average results, usually from conflict of style. However...it seems like Dre is one of the few that can take anybody's style and enhance it. I don't think I'd want to see him and Timbo, even though both are top 5 producers, just because their styles are usually TOO different and I just can't see the styles merging and being dope. However, with Premo, at least his style is usually dark enough to mesh with Dre's...and that's if they ever did get together.

But I donno if Premo's really in L.A. this week...I know Murs was out there a couple of days ago with him.
