LOL. You're brainwashed... The competition wasn't as tough? There were way more pure centers back then, and the rules allowed much more contact, Shaq would not have averaged 50 in a season! Bill Russell was a better defender than ANY defender Shaq has ever faced, and Wilt would constantly put him in his place as well!...The NBA might have been a little weaker in its George Mikan days (the 50's), but the Wilt/Russell era was extremely competitive...

There are more dominant centers that Shaq played against than Wilt too.  Sure Wilt played against Russell, but Shaq played against the Dream, Ewing, Mourning (great center in his prime) Sabonis, now Yao, even KG and guys like Kemp back in the early 90s were much better athletes and better players than back in the day.

Shaq struggled against centers like Hakeem, he would have struggled against Kareem, and why is that, speed. Wilt was faster, had better foot work, and Shaq's D is average, were as Wilt's D was just amazing. Put Wilt in the 90's, his a top 3 center, second MAYBE to Hakeem and I'll spot you one more. But no one dominated the game like Wilt, no one. I used the justification to vote Russell over Hakeem, and no one had any problem with that. If Russell>Hakeem then, Wilt>Shaq. It's that simple. I wouldn't argue, Shaq is great, but Wilt IMO, is the GOAT of all centers.

2. the shaq/wilt one was actually the last of the three i closed, first being the the malone/kareem, second being the russell hakeem , third being the shaq and chamberlin
3. i've closed polls sooner... 32 hours i believe, 24 hours is the shortest time i'll personally allow
4. i did want shaq to win but i was already going to close it wether or not he was winning or not
