I don't understand why the fuck you people give him a pass on this bullshit. That single that I heard was the WORST shit I've ever heard DJ Quik be associated with. This whole thing is on some real sellout shit. No way I'm buying this album. And this is NOT me hating. This is me holding a fucking ARTIST accountable for the music (or lackthereof) they release. If Quik is gonna drop music to cater to the one demographic that wack ass fucking Interscope will market towards then let them support his bullshit. This is some sad shit. Quik must be hella desperate.

^ I understand what you're saying, and since Quik is probably my favorite artist I'm left scratching my head like everyone elsebut the fact of the matter is, nobody knows what the point of this is and nobody knows what the record is gonna sound likethere can be speculation as to what the hell his and AMG's agenda is but you might as well wait for the cdas far as people giving it a pass, I think people just don't really carelike I said, he's my favorite artist and this new shit is odd but I just want some new material, better than him retiring or somethingmight as well take it for what it's worth, we all can be serious about hiphop but when you start to take it too seriously the joke's on you (not you, people in general)you do raise a good question though - is he selling out, trying to be funny, or just purposely doing a 180?I'd like to believe the whole record wouldn't sound like the single but who knows, to be honest though I like that beat for some reason
Yeah, i feel what you're saying jrome. but I don't thinka)the whole record will necessarily be like thisb)this song is that bad. i actually was just bumping it in the car, it's coo. not a classic or anything, but kind of on that simple old school tip in the same way dre was going for that with game and 50's "how we do"-T
great nows. i love to see west coast artist get big deals.
It actually reminds me of "how we do" more than anything else I can compare it to. I'm not saying it's as good as 'how we do' but I can see it kind of on that tip, nahmean? It's PERFECTLY legitimate for artists to do different shit, the song's not horrible and Quik shouldn't be pigeonholed to funk. The rapping is coo' too. It's not my favorite kind of thing or anything, but I can dig it. That's cool that you don't like it, but I don't necessarily think it means he's selling out. Jrome, I know you ain't fuckin' around, and I ain't dissin' you/arguing. Just saying my thought.-T

And don't get me twisted, if Quik came out w/ purple hair playing a guitar I'd give it a chance. It has nothing to do with the genre of music, it has to do with the execution and the intent. To me, all he's going for with this is to ride the South bandwagon and that's it. He's not trying something new creatively, he's catering to the sound that he believes will get him some mainstream exposure. And maybe he got a really lucrative deal from Interscope because of it (i still want to hear the details before I decide if it's a good deal or not). Good for him. But my perception is that this joint epitomizes a sellout.

I hear what you're sayin. This single may not be indicitive of the whole album. But I don't care. I can't support people dropping wack ass generic blatant rip off singles. I don't support Snoop cuz of it, 50 cent, Jay Z, none of them. And now I'll add Quik to that list of tapdancers (at least for this album). You guys wonder why albums as a a whole suck so fucking bad today? It's because there is no cohesiveness, it's all like a bunch of songs stuffed together, each one to attempt to appeal to a different demographic. OK, I disregard this song because he wants to get on 106. Shit, theres 3 other songs just like it on the album, i'll disregard those also. Then there's a slow cheesy love song, but hey thats for the bitches so I guess I'll let it slide.
I can respect Quik trying to reinvent his sound (like on Under The Influence), but he's not doing tha
