thoughts on Ja Rule's re-make of 2pac's "Pain"
« on: October 04, 2001, 06:25:53 PM »
now i'm probably Ja rule's biggest Cridict/hater on this board and on the whole internet BUUUUUUT

i'm thorolly impressed with this remix, granted Ja is spitting 2pac lyrics so that's half of the reason why i'm impressed, but i dunno i'm just feeling it, he recreated it the RIGHT way , kept the OG beat and barely tweaked it

Ja Rule is one of the wackest 2pac imatators in rap but he actually manages to do a good job here

i usually hate every thing ja rule does but i'm impressed...props to him for this, this could have easily killed his career (even more) if he fucked this up , but i gotta give him some props here

what do y'all think (don't bother answering this post if you havn't heard the song)

i thought the same as you, it was real risky but it came out alright...i thought his first cd was off the chain and everything after that i haven't been a fan of but that song is tight, i like it, it is a pac song so of course i'm gonna like it though, peace.

I don't care how good it is... NOBODY should remake any of 2Pac's material but the peeps he actually respected (Treach, Redman, Richie Rich etc...) 20 years from now, yeah, anyone will be able to do so and it'll be a different story but for now, Ja Rule should STOP biting/remaking any of 2Pac shit coz Pac's shit is still FRESH (and "Pain" is a classic in my opinion). I will NEVER listen to that joint Ja did... I'd rather listen to Will Smith or Mase (even though I HATE those 2). I'm fo real...

I think it's cool.  At least Ja didn't try to redo the beat or anything.   He kept it real.  I think it's something that Ja Rule & Tupac fans can both enjoy.

I've yet to hear it but all I know is he's the BIGGEST Pac biter ever IMO. I thought DMX was bad but after hearing "Livin' It Up" & seeing his cameo in the new J-Lo vid 4 "I'm Real" he's taking bitting to a whole other level, I still can't get over how much he looks like Pac in that video an' now he's done a cover version, dayum. But I ain't gonna criticise the song cos I ain't peep'd it yet.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

I thought it was a good song.  At least he gave Pac credit for it, instead of another bitch who stole an unreleased Pac song and basically rapped it word for word, tweaked the beat a little and called it a tribute, without giving a dime to Interscope, Amaru, Death Row or any of the producers.

The original is my favourite 2pac song ever, i remember my momma bought me the Cd of Above the Rim but i had to go buy the tape a week later for Pain...
Ja Rule's remake is alright, he is just like us, he knows the song is one of Pac's best and wants people to hear it.  I like his remix actually, but the chicks in the chorus sound a little wack, it is all good though

Ok, I dloaded it last night an' I gots to admit I like it! I gots to say though that when Pac's verse kicks in it makes it sound  fresh again, Ja's presence jus' makes Pac shine even more. I liked the way that when Pac says "They'll Never Take Me Alive" it's got tha surround sound movement affect then when his verse kicks in it switches back to Pac's OG version of "Pain".
