Warren G's carreer
« on: March 27, 2007, 07:34:16 AM »
Warren G's first album is such a classic. I do like his other releases as well, but there was always missing something. They couldn't even get close to Regulate... G Funk Area.

What do you guys think he should have done in the past to avoid this?

My opinion:
1) work with better guests on your album. I think Snoop only had 1 featuring on all his LP's. Also, why working with rappers like Drag-On, while he probably is good friends with Ice Cube, Dre, ...?
2) Warren, Nate & Snoop should have created an 213 album in 1994/1995 or so. Could you imagine the impact it would have had back then?

What's your opinion?

I always thought the reason Warren kinda disappeared as far as mainstream exposure after that first album was down to him.

Whenever I saw interviews with him ('The Show', for example) I never got the impression he pushed himself to be a star. In fact he used to say in interviews that he didn't want the spotlight.

When you think about it, we all know the guy can produce that classic shit, but when has he ever really stepped out from the shadows and made some noise? I always thought he was destined to be a 'behind the scenes' player in the G-funk family.

i don't know about this guy man. I love him, but it's un-explainable to me. All his albums are at least decent. Just the last 4 it simply felt like something was missing from the 1st 1. Granted the man's got a certified classic in his catalog, and not many ppl can say that

Well thats True!!

I like Warren G..i'd like see him get more of an exposure than he has already..
however it's up to him..
Look At Snoop..Look at Nate Dogg-These Two guys are being currently being featured on other ppls Albums on a regular basis....Warren G on the other hand rarely gets featured unless it's within his Camp (DPGC, et Al)

Someone once told me..
You can take a horse to the river, but you can't force it to drink

But all in all..i will still bump his albums..cuz i think he is very good Producer, and he has alot to offer and share, in terms of production.

Yeah you're probably right, he's more kinda 'behind the scenes'. But still, when you release 5 albums + 213 , you should step up and give it everything you got.

But still much props to Warren G! Don't misjudge me, I am still  a fan and I will always be. I just don't look that forward anymore to new Warren G stuff... It' like he's holding back sometimes. Hard to explain...

Snoop and Nate weren't allowed to feature on Warren's first two albums on Suge' orders (or anything outside Death Row). Nate personally requested to be on "Annie Mae".

It was from an interview with Half Dead I think.

G Funk Era was a good record but frankly I like his newer records more. He just developed his rap style and production skills and took them to a whole new level, like DJ Quik did.

Dunno why people always cling to that old stuff.

True...but i believe if it was ment to happen Dre Wulda still discovered Snoop Some other way, if Warren Didn't introduce Snoop to Dr D-R-E.

I think the only person Dre owes anything is to his fan-to Keep His Beats and Music BANGING
