These tracks would be good on the radio as separate singles, but to fill a whole album with them is not my taste.

the production is good, but rarely makes me want to listen to the track again.

Ya Boy's flow is cool, and his voice is like a million other cats I've heard. I actually can't remember what his voice sounds like when I'm not listening to the record it's so immemorable. Lyrically he's a couple steps above a cat like Game but people swore up and down that he was Ras or Crooked or something compared to Game which just isn't so. Scodie Mac doesn't kill him per se on his own shit, but Roscoe outshines him. The obligatory E-40 spot is cool.

the album was great... a party album.  flow and production were on point.  blows most major releases out of the water IMO.

I agree with you. I thought Chapter 1 the Rise was much better

Totally agree with tanj.........I like most of the songs individually, but as an album it's just too much, I find I can't listen to more than half the album, it's just too many party/street joints.

You wanna listen to a nice album tanj, go listen to the latest coup album - Pick a Bigger Weapon...........very tight album.

I like this album, I could listen to it the whole way through. I actually still listen to it. However I do believe "Chapter 1: The Rise" was better.

wow we must have very different tastes in beats... i liked the production and overall feel of rookie of the year a lot more than the rise.

I agree with most of what you say

he's pretty good but you're right about the flow, lacking some presence

one of the problems with the album was that he did every hook basically

and Roscoe definitely killed him on that track

We So Cold, Wuts Good, The Hardest are the best tracks
