First Eminem song you heard? What did you think?

I saw a single for Eminem's "Just Don't Give A Fuck"/ Brain Damage" late 1998.  I knew he was on Aftermath and had read about him, but this was the first time I got to hear him.  I could tell he had talent, but I thought he'd have a hard time trying to sell music like that.  I mean, what the fuck, I had never heard of a rapper making fun of himself, boosting a low-self-esteem, and threatening to kill himself, I'd never heard anything like it and didn't know what to think, so I just kept listening to the shit over and over.

i think my name is was the first time i heard eminem...or maybe any man....i remember being hyped cos he had skills and was capable of opening up a whole new audience to rap music...which he went on to do.

i first heard my name is and thought it was annoying but i still copped the cd and he became one of my fav rappers for awhile...that's when he was at his best, when he was doing all that underground shit...he comes correct now sometimes like on that new jayz joint or on stan or kim...i thought the d12 project was a mistake and shouldn't be repeated, peace.

My name is was the first song I heard. My name is was okay but I bought his album anyway cause he was funny as hell and had dre backing him. When I heard the album I was surprised how much skills the em had.

I first heard about him when he appeared in The Source's unsigned hype, I kinda didn't really care for him much when I read bout him in The Source. When I first heard "My Name Is" I had no idea that was him, until I peep'd the vid ofcourse. I first heard it also on Westwood's show. I thought the song was pretty tight, thought he was really fresh especially lyrically.

i saw his video for my name is when it first premiered back in 98'...I was like whoa when i saw it...Then i saw dre and i was like thats tight he cool with dre..Than my homie brought the cd over the day it came out and i thought he was dope..

I saw the world premiere for "My Name Is" on MTV in like late '98 early '99.  At first, I thought that song was rediculous.  I then saw Dre and was buggin out.  When I borrowed the CD from my friend I felt a lot of the songs, so I bought it in late Feb '99.

I meant as a solo artist on Aftermath, you have to be more than just a one hit wonder to work with Dre.  He went through alot of mc's till he finally found one worth fuckin with, and that was Em, so I knew it would be ill before I even heard it.
