BIGGEST Difference Between Dre Beats, Past/Present

I've always wanted to make a post about this. I now there's a good distinction between Dre's Death Row sound and his new style. He's definetly matured in his production skills.
For me, the biggest difference is Dre's drums. It changes a songs vibe completely. Back before '96, Dre had those drums that went rat-tat-tat. There were more bouncy drum claps in his tracks. Now, Dre has toned it down and had the more authentic drum kicks. They're pretty straight in my opinion, but still tight. Producers like Jelly Roll & Battlecat still use clap drums. The East coast has always used regular drum beats too.
What do you think the biggest difference for y'all is?

I think Dre is using alot more piano/keyboard affects in his present work also, some examples are Eve, Mary. J, the work he did on Xzibit's last LP "Restless". He's smoothd down the "G" funk feel & added futuristic beats & effects.

I think that if you take one of the 'O's' out of 'Good' it's 'God', if you add a 'D' to 'Evil' it's the 'Devil'. I think some cool motherfucker sat down a long time ago and said 'let's figure out a way to control motherfuckers'.

Dre's productions are more minimalist.

I Think that the wash soundtrack will be a good album, but not at all.
In this album will be beats/songs like Still d.r.e.?
I don't think so.
The "put it on me"'s beat is tight like any beats of Chronic 2001?
What do y'all think?

well the way he layers a song and mixes is still exactly the same
he doesn't use as many layers as he use to, there use to be like 10 different things going on at once but theres less (i'm not saying that's a bad thing)
theres more agression in the drums and the drums are more perfected than on the first chronic, on the chronic those drum lines wern't anything special or anything that wasn't already out but the drum kicks on his new beats are more original and consistant
he doesn't use that high pitch synth anymore
his beats are more of a funky jazz feel than gangsta
that's all i can think of now
In My opinion his beats are just as good as ever, they might not sound the same style wise but they sound the same quality wise

Yeah, Dre has polished his beats up fo sure.
p.s...I just saw Tigga on the Bassment and he said to go pick up Fabolus's album cause it had a '"serious joint on there wit Dr. Dre." WTF, is this true? Who has the album? Does he mean the "Family Affair" Remix which Faboous has a verse?

Uh, hello, The Difference Is He Doesn't Sample Anymore, LOL.
Hard On The Blvd. Sounds Like An Old School Dre Cut, Simply Because He Sampled It.
Dre's Got The Best Drums In Music, EASY... His Drums Are Tight As Hell, Big Ego's Is The Best Drums I've Heard In Years.

"Nast Mind" has some sick drums.
Anyway, I think Dre is way better now because his work is his. He doesn't sample like he use to so he more creative.

I like Dre's old style better too...What's wrong with sampling it's a part of hiphop and always will be...It's not like Dre used to jack beats completely like Puffy...

Well he did "jack" whole songs (Express Yourself/G Thang/Let Me Ride) but he used stuff that your average person doesn't know.. not stuff that everybody knows - opening the music up to a new audience.. not capitalising on its existing popularity and recognition (latest example of this is Jay-Zs newest samplin the jackson 5)

Yeah, I Agree. For Instance, Tupac's Changes... Is It DOPE, Because You Like Tupac, Or Is It Dope, Because You Like The O.G. Song?
BEST EVER Sample, I Say, Was Either Dre's Sample Of "iiiiii Just Wannna Celebrate!" by Rare Earth Into "Real Niggaz Don't Die", Or It Was
"Come On Come On Come On, Lemme Show You What It's All About" By Michael Jackson Into "Hiphop Horray" By Naugty By Nature.
