Ron Paul has re-ignited this debate.

He is a true Republican, in the sense that republicans are supposed to be for small government but they actually aren't.

Republicans think they are for small government, but in reality the government has always grown this century under Republicans, and it ofcourse grew under Reagan and has ofcourse grown astronomically under Bush.

Yet, IRONICALLY, UNDER A DEMOCRAT, CLINTON, THEIR WAS A GOVERNMENT SURPLUS WHICH CAN NOT BE BOASTED BY THESE REPUBLICANS WHO ARE SUPPOSEDLY FOR SMALL GOVERNMENT.

..also, Ron Paul is gaining popularity because he wants to reduce the defense budget, that is the real chunk of our tax money and he has explained how America's brutal foriegn policy is the reason that many Muslims in the Middle East have chosen to fight against America.
