it's just one person's opinion
I heard a couple of promotional tracks and thought, "Blah".Really, I don't have much sympathy for the West Coast when they complain they're being hated on these days. 90% of the time, it's albums like this being held up as examples of "the best" from the West, while equally party-oriented Dirty South records or East Coast records get hated on for not being G'd up enough. West Coast cats have become such hypocrites these days that it's hard for me to think they were once the same people getting hated on by the East back when G-Funk was THE movement.
You can't have positive without negative. I welcome the opinion of people that don't like what I/we do as artist's- It's the only way we know what you want from us. As an artist/producer I don't change songs due to popular opinion, they just come out how they come out without thought. But, I might say: "Hey they liked this one, so I'll put that one out."Why wouldn't I embrace the haters? The problem is when you get an angry writer who jus happens to be in a bad mood that day and has to write a review- We all have bad days. I pay it no mind. It's just music man. He took it personal- Maybe he had a personal agenda. So, take the politrix out- It either makes you wanna toke one or not- thats the way I see it anyway.Plus there is a time and place for everything- "Back B4" is a "Party" album- We we're on let's have some fun shit. You really gona freak out when you hear the "Ill Clinton" mixtape Bishop and I are doing- If you heard his last mixtape it was a no holds barred strong statement. "Ill Clinton: Call to Anarchy" will be the same. Just my view on the world. Now that is a serious look. Something I've never done before. Bishop pushed me like I was in the fuckin gym or some shit. And, he came in and listened the other day.. He came in to tear it apart, he left loving it. You gona see a whole new side of Damizza. hahaha
I thought the album was great, which is why I awarded them 4 Dubs in the DubCNN review. I thought 'Mizza's raps fitted the overall, laid-back vibe of the project and Butch's voice was as endearing as ever. Obviously, I didn't expect any revolutionary, conscious Hip-Hop. I wanted to hear a great party record, pure and simple. In those respects, listeners were rewarded. The whole project was seamless, sliding perfectly from one track to the next. That AHH review seems the equivalent of someone who listens exclusively to Warren G/Dove Shack/Tha Twinz deciding to review the new Nas or Saigon album. It just shouldn't be allowed.
