Artists Who Don't Produce...Produce
« on: September 01, 2001, 01:47:33 PM »
I was thinkin, we know Dre/Quik/Warren G all rap & produce their own stuff, then we got some artists who have ATTEMPTED to produce.  Like Nate Dogg, Kurupt & even Snoop.  Now we know they are MC's, but they have tried to produce some songs as well.  Check this out:

Kurupt actually produced a song on his own, "Never leave Me Alone"...a single.  Don't think he tried it again.

Snoop co-produced several songs on Nate's first album too.

Also, Nate handled a lot of the production on his own for the album.

I just think this is wierd, cause I'm not acostumed to seeing these kind of names under the production credits.  Try to think of peeps like Bad Azz & Tray Dee producing...Mack 10...Butch..Suge, hahaha.

It's hard to imagine Nate, Kurupt & Snoop pushing buttons @ the production panel...LoL.  who else can you think of??

Well, mack 10 and Ice Cube have been know for producing their own shit.In fact, ice cube produced most of Mack 10's first album including "foe life".Mack 10 co-produced some of his most memorable songs a long side L.B.C. greats Such as Soopafly(only in California), and Snoop Dogg(LBC and the ING).Also Ice Cube produced the majority of the War Disc entirely by himself.

If a rapper can produce  good tracks on his own like D.J. Quick, then he should keep on producing. I get what you're saying incognito. I was going to post a thread like this the other day. At first I wasn't comfortable with artist producing their own stuff but 2pac changed all of that with All Eyez On Me. He and Johnny J produced some of the album's biggest songs. I for one, also think that rappers should stick to rapping and producers to producing period.Great producers like Dre,Ant Banks,cold187 can rap but are better at producing while producers like Quick, and Daz can flip it both ways.and finally those who are known for their rhymes and flows such as Snoop, Kurupt etc., should stick to what they do best.
