Yeah a LOT of the songs leaked and Im a fan but Ima be honest. All the songs, maybe 1 or 2 aint, are pure crap.

Its like he can create an album, just another guest apperance artist.

Check that song that Kanye did for example, he didnt say SHIT.

Thanks for the info, Meho. So is any of this new? I'd heard that "La La" track before, and a few others...

On first listen, the Kanye track is indeed weak. A shame, 'cause the beat ain't too bad. Unfortunately, Wayne is in full-on rapping-for-the-sake-of-rapping mode. As you said, he's not talking about ANYTHING. Skipped to the Timbo track too, and you can see why it ended up as mixtape material.  :-\

There are a few cool cuts so far, and I'd still recommend it to fellow Weezy fans. At this point, however, Da Drought 3 mixtape is much better than this - and this is supposed to be material from "Carter III!" :o

New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne has been an industry juggernaut the past couple of years, not only releasing his most critically acclaimed album “Tha Carter II”, but controlling the mixtape scene, with his “Tha Drought” and “Tha Drought is Ova” releases. Now, the dust has settled, and he’s concentrating all efforts towards his forthcoming LP “Tha Carter III”. We caught up with Willy Matlock, one of the contributing producers to TCIII, and asked him a few questions about Lil Wayne and the new album.

DS: What is it like in the studio with Lil Wayne? Who/What does he usually have there with him??

WM: I’m from Cleveland, Ohio so I usually send tracks to Wayne through E-mail. I’ve never been in the studio with him… but he usually has his Young Money Camp with him…Tezz….Mack Maine and a few others.

DS: What producers are set to appear on the album thus far?

WM: The Runners, Matlock, Young Yonny, Scott Storch….He has some hot in-house producers too, but that’s all I’ve heard so far.

DS: According to reports, tracks from Tha Carter 3 have been leaked. How do you think the tracks were leaked? How does Wayne feel about this?

WM: Right now no one knows how….this happened to me on Tha Carter 2…I did a track called “U Nasty” and along with 8 other tracks, and they were leaked….Lil Wayne his camp, myself and the producers who have lost out on future money…are highly upset about it.

DS: Is Wayne going back into the booth to record more songs? If so, will Tha Carter III be pushed back?

WM: Lil Wayne never stops recordin. He does song after song after song. Tha Carter 3 may or may not be pushed back because he has so many songs. Dependin on how the streets take to the leaked material will probably dictate the direction he chooses to go.

Matlock
DS: Many think his rhymes have been deteriorating since Gillie left Cash Money, any thoughts on that?

WM: Lil Wayne is only gettin better….and even if he was gettin his style from him…where is Gillie The Kid right now…Lil Wayne is still selling records…because of him I am a platinum producer.

DS: Whats with all these mixtapes he’s been dropping and no album, have you produced any tracks on those mixtapes?

WM: Lil Wayne records so much…he keeps his name current with mixtapes and features. He doesn’t put all these mixtapes out. All a DJ needs is a couple drops from him then they grab 20 songs from the internet or wherever than can get and put out a mixtape and says he is hostin. You can tell the real ones.

DS: The Song “Dying” led the public to believe he might be on some kind of substance. Any truth to that?

WM: I don’t know if he is on any substance…maybe there is a hidden message….

DS: What percent of Tha Carter 3 was completed before the songs leaked?

: I know the album was pretty much being wrapped up.

DS: What do you think of the Weezy fanbase, and their unrelenting devotion to him?

WM: As far as his fanbase…its only gonna get bigger…he’s unpredictable and says things off the wall….he features on other artists singles that do real well…so those fans also becomes his fans…as long as he makes good music he will be here for a long time.

Props on the interview. I'm guessing this latest mixtape isn't Wayne approved...

Have you heard the whole mixtape? It's very hit and miss. Da Drought 3 kills all these rumoured Carter III tracks, and that was just a collection of freestyles. La La is alright, I suppose. I kinda agree with Meho. I expect more considering the amazing guest appearances dude has done this year, and the fact that Carter II was so nice.

Also, MTV reported that that track on "Da Drought Is Over 2," that's said to be produced by Timbaland, in actuality isn't. Should have known - doesn't sound like a 'typical' Timbo beat.
