The Success of "Boss' Life" ft. Nate Dogg
« on: June 09, 2007, 03:37:12 AM »
I wonder if this single or the video had any success, because I didn't read anything about it. I mean it's a Snoop Dogg track with Dr. Dre on the beat and Nate Dogg on the hook, an amazing video and top notch raps by Snoop and I think it didn't blow up. So I'm asling what else Snoop can do to have success? Or did I miss something? Does the video get any play or does the song get any airtime in the radios? Because if not, Snoop will think off that song as a disappointment for himself, and I doubt he will make a single with Nate Dogg again if he thinks so. That'd be shame.
So what y'all think?

^^
I believe that track was dope!!

Th chemistry of each instrumnet mixed well together!!
it had that jazzy and rich feeling to it!!!
Snoop's verses were on point!!
Was kinda hoping for a third verses, but I'm content with the two!
Bringing in Nate to the track, to add that soulfulness to the track, that only Nate can do, was arguably a good decision on Snoop!!

At this stage, we could deliberate all day of what Snoop will think, will he think it's a disspaointment, will he think twice before doing a track with Nate Dogg..Who's to say!!
However I'm positive that it will not hinder snoop from working with Nate Dogg, they have great chemistry.

It's been discussed on this forum numerous times, i think folks should just let go of sales and enjoy the music!! If the said artsit is not publically complaing about his sales, i see no point why the fans should, i really feel it's futile!

I'm sure enough that the album as well that track will eventually go plat as some stage!!
In relation to what Snoop can do to have success, i think Snoop is as successful as he could be. He has featured on quite a number of track from various artist, so he is up there!

Just my thoughts!!

I think if Akon was on the hook it would have done way better. Who is Nate Dogg nowadays? Akon is the hottest hooksinger out right now (except maybe R. Kelly and T-Pain) so everything with his name on is expected to do a lot better then these no-name singers.

Be that as it may..but i found that upon purchasing the album and listening to that track..it immediately struck me that Akon just didn't fit that track, I'm not sure if anybody else noticed it...

But who knows, if it had been released with Akon on the hook maybe it mite be different, i can't say...
Nate is more in-depth than Akon..perhaps Akon just needs time to develop is singing..like how Kellz & Nate have chiseled their craft..

Blu!

Did the single have any success though? I haven't heard anything from the chart position. I'm just interested, not that I care how much it sold, but it's interesting to see, because 10 years ago, a Snoop single produced by Dre and with Nate Dogg on the hook would've run the charts.

Frank Thomas comes to the plate everygame to the "Boss' Life" in case anyone was wondering.   Oh and IMO the track is great with Nate on there, Snoop also sounds great over the beat.

I searched at billboard.com and they say it made rank #70 in the Hip-Hop/R&B singles, that's kinda weak  :o a sahem that only a few still buy good music nowadays.

to be fair its not really an upbeat radio/club single that would have much chance the charts. the beat may be some nice new shit from dre on a different kind of vibe but it didn't catch much mainstream attention for that reason...

Indeed this is a good track but it's getting boring after a few spin IMO.

Beat is sampled but is still tite, NATE cant sing, am I the only one who thought his voice was off-beat?  I thought Akon killed tha hook, should've left him on there, woulda saved more money and did better on the charts.  but then again Akon would've been saturating the charts "I Wana Fuck U" "Dont Matter" "We Takin Over" and couple more trax.  Plus its Akon+Jeezy not Snoop + Akon.
I only fuck with 10's

I remember when everyone found out that Dre was producin on this CD, there was excitement in the air...Dre and Snoop together once again!! Why not take advantage of this and make Boss Life the first single?? I know it's not your typical uptempo dance track but let's face it, Dre laid it down production wise, the song is hot and as usual on a Dre produced track, Snoop did his thing....I love the good ole days of the Dogg Pound as much as anyone but Akon sounds better than Nate on this track..I feel bad for Nate who is a true DPG Soldier but others have emerged as "hook singers" and since a successful solo career was never established, I'm not sure what the future holds for Nate. When I found out that Nate was doin the hook for the video release, I was excited but the result left me a little disappointed and this despite the fact that I'm not an Akon fan

You know that Snoop's 2002 album was named "Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Bo$$" right? I think Nate Dogg was waaaay better than Akon. Akon sounds like a frog to me and Nates ad-libs at the end are dope.

This is true about the "Boss" concept and anyone that knows me knows I'm a big Crook supporter (what up to Novakane)... However, with that being said, I think that it is POSSIBLE, that Snoop brought the Boss title back after the tension with Crook and him started. Although, at the same time every single rapper on the West AND in the South calling themselves Bosses for a while though.

Anyway, as far as the topic goes... I live on the East Coast never ONCE heard Bosses Life on the radio, but I see the video on MTV or BET once a day.
