Its all because of Suge, Puffy and Eminem. Neither cares about how hip-hop is in the eyes of the world.

And I don't think fads last almost 30 years. People understand rap is here to stay, but it will be rejected by corporate and most of white america.

I think maybe 20 years from now it will be accepted by more white americans.  A lot of white americans like myself grew up on rap because of were there from or other reason's.  20 years from now those adults that didn't understand rap will be much older or either dead.  Those white americans that grew up on rap may not listen to it 20 years now but they will accept it but there will still be people that wont accept rap no matter what.  I find it funny that people still think that rap will be a fad.

When you really think about it, all types of music are frowned upon by someone. We frown upon country, pop, and shit like that. Old people frown upon rap, heavy metal, etc etc. Rap is definatly here to stay, just like classic rock. Hip hop is bigger than ever. Shit is equally as big as a Big Mac and French Fries to go.

What bugs me though is that alot of these adults who hate rap [especially adult white females and republicans] have no idea the classic albums it has produced. They dont know or understand the impact that an album like The Chronic, Fear Of A Black Planet, Straight Outta Compton, 36 Chambers, E.1999 Eternal, All Eyez On Me, Low End Theory, or ATLiens had. Rap has its classics, just like classic rock has its classics [Led Zeppelin IV, Darkside Of The Moon, Abby Road, The Joshua Tree, The Grand Illusion, or "the black album", etc].

Yeah, but rock, pop and country have respect by everyone. Rap and hip-hop as a whole doesn't have as much respect. How come they got rules in my school where it is okay for me to listen to country, pop and rock at school but it ain't right to listen to rap? Something wrong their. I wanted to perform "Dear Momma" at a talent show once but they wouldn't let me but they let the next guy do a Limp Bizkit song with cuss words? Sure he changed the words around but my song was positive and had no cuss words.

SOmethings wrong there. There is discrimination against rap.

True, true. In that respect, hip hop will never fully be accepted by society. Alot of is due to the usage of cuss words more than other types of music, but personally, I dont give a fuck. I think hip hop is fine the way it is, and im glad it has such a rebelious attitude, cuz so many people try to sweep it under the rug. But it aint gonna happen. Hip hop will ALWAYZ be around. ALWAYZ. They can put parental advisory stickers on cd's, they can prevent it from being played overhead in your local music store, and they can stereotype it all they want, but the result is gonna be the same in the end: Hip hop aint gonna go away. I think society is starting to see this, and I think gradually, hip hop just might fully be accepted. Afterall, it is the second highest selling music genre right now. Even rock magazines realize its presence. Rolling Stone Magazine, about a year ago or so, had a list of "essential recordings of the 90's", which was mixed with all types of music. I was surprised to see many hip hop albums on the list. Some of the albums on the list included:

Beastie Boys--Ill Communication
Public Enemy--Fear Of A Black Planet
Dr. Dre--The Chronic
Wu Tang Clan--36 Chambers
Tribe Called Quest--Low End Theory
Bone Thugs N Harmony--E.1999 Eternal
2Pac--All Eyez On Me
Outkast--Aquemini
Raekwon--Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
Jay Z--Hardknock Life
Notorious Big--Ready To Die
Nas--Illmatic
Ice Cube--Amerikkkaz Most Wanted
Snoop Dogg--Doggystyle

And that wasnt even all of them, lol. The thing is, hip hop came from the streets, and it isnt meant for the soft tounge. Its hear to stay, and I think people are starting to realize that, whether they like it or not.

Vibe magazine had a "100 essential albums of the 20th century list", and there were also a number of hip hop albums on that list as well, among other types of music. I dont remember that list as well the Rolling Stone list, but these were some of the rap albums included:

Wu Tang Clan--36 Chambers
NWA--Straight Outta Compton
Public Enemy--It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back
2Pac--Greatest Hits
Bone Thugs N Harmony--E.1999 Eternal
Tribe Called Quest--Low End Theory
Ice Cube--Death Certificate
BDP--Criminal Minded
Eric B & Rakim--Paid In Full
Beastie Boys--License To Ill

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't want rap to change. It has already changed to be more commercial friendly. I wish things were more like back in the early 90's when people just didn't give a fuck.

But slowly rap will get more and more commercial and eventually accepted.

YEH EXACTLY

WHEN 'PUNK ROCK' HIT THE U.K

IT SHOCKED MANY AND WAS, IN EFFECT, 'REJECTED'

HIP HOP WAS DEALT ALARGE BLOW IN 1989 IN THE UK WHEN A UK RECORD COMPANY 'ISLAND' WANTED 2 MAKE CONTROVERSY...

SO THEY SENT COPIES OF 'STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON' TO ALL THE CONSERVATIVE MP'S

IT BACKFIRED AS POLICE RAIDED THE FIRMS WAREHOUSE AND IMPOUNDED ALL NWA ALBUMS

THE TOPIC WAS DISSCUSSED IN THE 'HOUSE OF COMMONS'BACK THEN IF IMNOT MISTAKEN - SO FROM THEN (AND EVEN B4 THIS) HIP HOP WAS LOOKED DOWN ON IN THE UK

Hip Hop is looked down on by alot of people for alot of reasons, one of my boys (hes black) will not listen to any rap at all, as when he hears rappers sayin 'nigga' and talkin about drugs and violence, he sees that as bringin black people on a whole down, he believes things like that are why people cross the road when hes walkin towards them, and why security guards follow him around shopping stores, he feels it gives black people a bad image and doesnt condone it...

Obviously not all rap is about that, but he feels black rap artists represent black people as their always on tv and shit, and they drag the image through the mud every time they pull a gun, thats just his opinion, and in a way i can see what he is sayin...

yeah.....i am like that with that N word...i dont use it....even in songs....i try not to say it...if i am rappin along..and u will never ever see it in my e styles...............i rather use brotha...or brotha man..........

I have two best friends....One is White The Other Is Puerto Rican...we call each other brotha man...then most of my other boyz..are black......from the neighborhood..and yeah they use the N word....but i am actually trying to get them to stop......

I hate it when ignorant people talk down on rap..or try to immitate it.......put their hat on back words..and say some ridiculous rhyme...but hey..its come this far..and it will go further............

we have our Dre dres........snoops........cubes........will smiths.......nellys....p diddy's........................so it has evolved............hip hop is like a huge spectrum.....we have different artist at different ends..and some in the middle.........something for everybody...
