Author Topic: Finally heard all of the U Know What It Is Mixtapes (Read 260 times)

The first two are eh, but the third and fourth have a lot of bangers. Which is the mixtape that has that Al Green-Love and Happiness on it? Shit is hard. Which track is it though? I was trying to find it today to no avail.

Anyway, I made a post about this because whenever discussing Game, alot of people here say "his mixtape shit is better than his albums" and I agree but I really don't. He shows a lyrical/MC diversity that he does not exhibit on his records but he does it so well on the mixtapes. 300 Bars and Runnin has some of Game's best moments ever: "But it ain't COMMON/More like top Raaa-men/ etc." not cause of the lyrics but because of the catchy and entertaining way he delivers his shit. He's better on every tape than the last too it's ridiculous. His producers are tight but they can't mix for shit. That song "Cali Niggaz" would be so sweet if that Isley bros sample sounded cleaner, and they caught the chord change in that bridge. They have dope samples but not the refining ear of pefectionists like Quik and Dre.

His skits are hilarious, and the G Unit disses are pricelessly classic.

His albums are way more consistent and cohesive pieces. Thematically, musically and as far as quality control. I'll go more into it later/as people disagree.

I'll have more thoughts on this later, but the tapes are good.

Any thoughts on the series as a whole?

Didnt read what u saaid LOL, but u oviously noticed how he changed, he was all raw on 1 and 2 and then when he hit mainstream on 3 he changed alot and then 4 is helllllllllllla mainstream, songs are so universal, i liked 1 and 2 his raw days lol!!

That's the case for most albums over mixtapes. Mixtapes are just that... mixes.

I've only heard the first 3 mixtapes

1 - Pretty wack IMO..I only bump the straight outta compton freestyle, don't make me clap, 100 bars and running & 40 cal

2 - Relatively dope mixtape..Ofcourse 200 bars and runnin is heat...Crooked I spits CRAZY on gunned down..couple other standout tracks

3 - 300 bars and running is amazing (ofcourse lol)..I liked his spit on Im a King...Cyssero is really nice on why you smell like that & lyrical exercise..The track over Snoop's lay low beat is heat...The collabo with WC is nice as well

Can't wait to hear Vol. 4

i know Vol.4 is out, but i've been listening to ALL the game mixtapes (iv'e got 9 albums/mixtapes of his on my PC) and I've only got through the first 5.
