If this is indeed the Lakers roster next year...
« on: July 06, 2007, 10:56:26 PM »
How far do you think we can get?

Kwame Brown / Andrew Bynum / Marc Gasol
Lamar Odom / Brian Cook / Ronny Turiaf
Luke Walton / Vladimir Radmanovic
Kobe Bryant / Maurice Evans / Sasha Vujacic
Derek Fisher / Jordan Farmar / Javaris Crittenton

With Fisher back that solves our PG problem. He's a leader, a ball handler, an experienced player, and a dependable scorer. Plus with him playing defense on the perimeter, that means our bigs don't have to pick up his slack (like Turiaf and Kwame ALWAYS had to do cuz of Smush). Bynum has another year under his belt and hopefully he goes hard in the gym all summer and can average about 10/10. We still need a go to guy in the post. I don't see the J.O. trade happening, nor do I want it to. Hopefully we can get the other Gasol before the summer is over. Health is still an issue with Odom. And Kobe's attitude is still a mystery.

If Kwame plays 70 games, I see the second round on the horizon. That's a big "if".

Without major injuries maybe the 2nd round, if not 1st round exit... to expect more, this team has to play D and find a legit 2nd option ...

JO's shooting percentage is terrible for a big man, and hes not a good passer so the triangle wouldnt really benefit off of him like it would gasol. JO does have good defense tho.

but just about every analyst and fan had agreed that getting JO and losing both odom and bynum would make the lakers worse and put them in a shittier position as far as trade assets are concerned. which is pretty much why the front office pulled the plug on the trade in the first place.

"Andrew Bynum? Are you kidding me? Fucking ship his ass out!"
- Kobe

bring in JO, and ship out Odom with Bynum. the lakers need someone who can play defense, and someone who can control a fucking ball

Barring an injury-plagued season (ala 06-07), this team is easily good for 50 wins, which is very good in the west. I'd have to see how the chemistry flows before I can decide whether they'd be able to contend, but that roster is looking nice...PeACe

If they end up getting Garnett this post will come back to haunt you.

I wouldn't trade him, but I would get a new second option. Odom would make a GREAT role player to complement Kobe and JO, or KG if we ever get that lucky. Odom is a solid player, good for 15-18 points a game, 7-10 rebonds a game, and is ready to pick up whatever slack is needed to win. I say keep him if we can still get JO.
